I'm always surprised that Masato Tanaka is... well, not that he's alive, but that he seems comparatively okay considering the crazy poo poo he's done in his life. Now I am doubly surprised because once they got Minoru Suzuki to show up, he was perhaps the last person in the universe I expected to see show up in Gatoh Move.

Suzuki didn't surprise me at all: dude is a freelancer to the core, worked a load of DDT in the past and is perfectly willing to work with pretty much anyone - there's that battle royal that got posted online a while back where he got eliminated from a Battle Royal by a 12 year old Riho for example. Add in that one of his employees at Piledriver is a Gatoh Move wrester (Sayaka) and that Emi seems to know everyone and it doesn't surprise me that he agreed to do it if it would help people out. Same goes for Tanaka; there's the obvious FMW link between him and Emi but they've crossed paths a load and there's clearly mutual respect there. I'd really suggest checking out Tanaka's DDT run from last December on: its genuinely great stuff and much better than someone his age that's done what he has done ought to be doing. I admit to not being the biggest Zero-1 follower so perhaps there's also something in that stuff that's very good as well. I really didn't think it was that bad. Could've been trimmed by the 10 mins that was commercials. Finish was flat. I would say middling. Oh but Swags was in it, so WMOTY

Mox did his best but the whole thing just dragged and it was impossible to maintain interest. Only reason why I'm not giving it a WMOTY is because there technically was nothing egregiously wrong with the match itself.

I think intitially people thought it would be like MiSu/Mox throwing bombs at each other, or a lighter version of the Mox/Omega match but to my recollection there hasn't been a good empty arena/falls count anywhere match since The Rock/Foley, and that's because they actually used the charisma of both guys and the full benefit of a full arena to do a lot of really unique spots. It was underwhelming and coming off Gargano/Ciampa and Orton/Edge already being bombs it really just stuck out as "The third bad empty arena match in a week"
