Both trailers for this movie are awesome, the movie looks fuckin great. I'm really excited for when it comes out.

I can see Roman Reigns playing Momoa's character in direct to DVD WWE sequels of movies not originally by WWE.

His entire career is full of amazing cinematography, but Goodfellas is one long great shot. There's not a single frame that isn't amazing.

edit: Ed is an interesting character, because he has these fantasies, these imaginations of what he wants, but as soon as he gets them, it absolutely terrifies him.

Like his thing with Birdy. He is most definitely interested in her, he basically seduces her, and as soon as she reciprocates he literally slams on the breaks out of fear.
And that curiously vague flashback proceeding from accident, where it seems to be partly telling us that Doris was the one keeping him in line, and it was ultimately the best for him, emphasized by that ambiguously tender scene where Ed is about to speak up while Doris feels he doesn't need to say anything because she knows he wants to make her feel better in that moment, that words were not necessary. Ultimately, words were necessary for them to continue as they were, as Ed eloquently put it in his final monologue.

Of course, the opposite interpretation could be true, with Ed being constricted by his wife's personality leading to him lashing out just once and setting off the whole chain of events, but it feels a touch too ungenerous to McDormand's character.

My personal yt find of the day is Gakkou no Kaidan G: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMDhGjDd5WA

In keeping with my last post about Ringu: Kanzeban, this is the made-for-TV anthology horror movie (no subtitles, stretched from square aspect ratio, watermark from another tube site it's hosted on) that technically spawned The Grudge franchise. It's apparently unavailable in a commercial format except for the two Grudge-related segments, which have been subtitled and used as special features on the major movie DVDs and such.

Thing is, it's dope as Hell. It works completely without subtitles. The other funny thing is that this film bares absolutely no relation with a completely different Japanese horror franchise Gakkou no Kaidan/School Ghost Stories franchise.

God, I'm so confused. Everyone was talking about sitcoms in the movie chat thread and movies in the games chat thread.

In the games chat thread, I recently expressed the opinion that I want there to be a stage play adaption of Ex Machina, because I think it could be done very well.

Ex Machina could be done with like, 2 main sets, and a minimalist set for the very final scene. A little bit of creative costuming and some minimal expository dialogue additions to fill in things that were clearly conveyed in visuals in the film. It barely has 4 characters.

edit: Obviously there would be dialogue that needed to be rewritten for other reason to, I just meant premise-wise.

If you guys get a chance and it's showing near you, you owe it to yourself, see Colossal. It's equal parts funny and traumatizing, beautifully acted (Anne Hathaway is a national treasure), and makes what could've been a stupid concept really interesting.

Gonna spoiler block this part, but holy gently caress Jason Sudeikis is really good at playing the Hollywood Nice Guy that turns into a Realistic Nice Guy.
