Yeah, Ziat might still be playable in expedition, but she went from maybe the best card in the format to just a modestly powerful card. I am surprised they went all the way to 2 health though. Feed is still strong but the rate change will hurt and it's pretty deserved.

There might be more of a space for aggro in expedition now but the shadow midrange shell is still going to be powerful. Maybe the expansion changes that but until then I wouldn't expect too much.

Anyone know if Equalize is bugged? Multiple games now it's treated the opponent as if they -1 card than they actually did, like so:


But then I had a game in between 2 bugged games where it worked fine.

There is currently a bug with Deliveries (the new market spell) where, if they are played on the opponent's turn, they appear to add an extra card to their hand if the card gets shuffled back into their deck.

Decided to give the preview event a shot and got 10-0 with Xenan Dredge. Certainly got pretty lucky, ive had the deck do a whole bunch of nothing in ranked. also helped my first and last opponent were the 150 card special.

Of the preview cards i saw there was,
one mana 2/1 shadow, at end of your turn if a unit died, hunt 1. spellcraft 4 for deal 3 damage with lifesteal.

three mana 2/2 time with deadly, when your opponent draws their second card give a random unit in your hand +1/+1. spellcraft 2 draw a land of your choice, if sigil play depleted.

three mana 3/3 justice. when this attacks, gain 3 armor. entomb, top unit or weapon gets +3/+3.

Easiest run I've had in a while. Just A-Space to victory. Not super happy with my market choices or even decision to play a market at all. The Delivery is probably my #1 discard to Lantern.16-4 in my last 20 games.

expansions out and there are a couple interesting cards in there. the 5 cost 3/3 flying bee that draws your top 2 power cards and has empower +3/+3. information leak is the strongest market hate yet, 2 cost discard a card of your choice from the opponent market and draw a card. though if youre not running a market you now put another card from the set in it, crystalline wanderer, 4 cost 5/5 colorless if the opponent made you discard this draw it from the void. kelmeks spear, 2/1 versitile weapon with PPSS - when you play a hero, play the spear from the void.

Yeah, Wasp looks absolutely ridiculous, at least in the context of Expedition's current removal suite. It's a super game-ending threat that flies, good luck dealing with it. Spear also has spellcraft 3: -1/-1 the enemy team which occasionally wrecks token decks, but just recurring itself for free is a bunch of value.

I also think the armadillo (3JJ 3/3, gain 3 armor on attack, entomb: top weapon/unit gets +3/+3) is expedition-solid on its own, but I don't know if it fits in the good Justice decks or not.

Not really seeing any of the cards besides the spear in throne. The spear is pretty cool with a Feln rats deck with enter the throne room.

Throne was a bit bumpier but made it this month with this Merriest Mandrake deck I stole from Roshi like a year ago. It started off as a even deck but then they nerfed golem into the ground so now there's odd cards in it. Damara is still the only market hate card worth playing imo. The problem with market hate is they still have 4 other choices in there, unless they are a combo deck you aren't going to accomplish too much. And then a 2 mana card that cycles is too much of a liability in any format where aggro is an issue,

It's not a 16-4 cakewalk but I master'd with this pile of synergy. Hits the sweet spot of 'being good enough to masters, yet still lots going on'

Brood of Hecaton is surprisingly good. Bumping him up to 4x with 4x Lumen Shepard main and Lanterns might actually be an improvement, since you're running Repurposed Wares anyway

Rockfort is a little slow but powers a lot of it, letting you gets lots of draw and lifesteal with Brood, lock them out with Hecaton, or close games out with haste/taunt.

Then Old Scratch is just an engine by himself, even without lifesteal/overwhelm from Wares:

This is a really fun deck. I think the market needs a little bit of tweaking, something like Recovery or Leave Behind.

I'll definitely be grinding with it next month too, so happy to hear your tweaks. I don't really like either Display or Dunewave, but I found them to be needed too often as silver bullets so you don't lose to a pile of relics or an opposing Riftfeeder Wasp. If Wasp isn't as prevalent in the meta, then wave is an easy adjust.

The other 3 all seem quite important. It's possible Rapid Development is win more, but man it's given a lot of wins when otherwise the opponent might have found answers.

I actually haven't had any issues with opposing wasps, might just be RNG though. So I have Dunewave swapped out for Leave Behind atm. Rapid Development seems a little slow to get off but I've also had some good games with them like you have. I feel the Display, Shepherd, and Exodus are must haves.

im having a hard time believing this deck wins at all. every deck i face, from aggro to control and beyond, just effortlessly stomps it. the decks engines take forever to get moving.

I did almost all of Diamond with it fairly easily. Maybe the meta shifted.

Feels like half the time bam posts an aggro deck that he went 17-3 with I then load it up and have a harder time, perhaps due to some variant of:

- He does his grind early in the month usually
- due to other people doing that with aggro too, the meta shifts some against aggro
- by week 2 or so, aggro is having a harder time
- by the end of the month, people are trying weirder/jankier things (because they don't need to grind Master's anymore), so aggro can feast again
- repeat


Just guessing though.

I'm probably going 50/50 if that. Games are super swingy. You often get to like 2 hp then pull a win out. Or don't.

So Kelim's Spear is definitely the coolest and potentially strongest deck in Throne right now. The synergies it runs are absolutely phenomenal. Games are a little bit swingy depending on if you draw the nuts or not though. So I can't tell if it's super strong or the draw variance is supposed to offset the power. That being said, I tried running creation aggro as a counter and it worked pretty well. 80% win rate all through diamond. I am surprised it worked so well after the absolutely massive Abundance nerf. Guess that goes to show how strong of a card it was before. Patrice is iffy, you might want to run something that just kills them like Obliterate or Phoenix rather than try to play a card that attempts (and most likely fails) to outvalue control. Entrancer has also been really surprisingly good.

I mastered last month with a combrei ramp thing which was easy enough - Monarch's Cloak is really good right now - but that looks more fun so oh boy here I go netdecking again

I never played Abundance before it got nerfed; what's the smallest one you do? Like 4-6s are still worthwhile, or do you always try to set up bigger?

Getting a 3 or 4 drop for 2 mana is good enough tempo. This is an aggro deck where you want to just kill them. Don't get greedy on value. Just chip way at them until you can finish with Rapid Development or just incremental damage from giving your wide board +1/+1 can kill people. I generally just mulligan for some combo of Alessi + Stand, Dino Nest, Supplier, Abundance + enabler, or Creation Project. Just a ton of OP BS in the deck where as long as you draw a bit of it, you're good. Don't need to draw all the good stuff.

For spear, here is the best deck I've seen. It's just so cool with how much it has going on. I still regularly misplay all the time because of how complex ordering is. Wildlands scavenging can be a Secret Passage in market if you're not facing a lot of Steyer's Eyes. Getting Hookblade on your Spear is so strong and easy to do. And Nomnom's is just as powerful as Rapid Development in that creation deck.

Fun fact: the combat skills on your relic weapon will also apply to your sigils. Big one to watch out for is if you give your Spear decay with a Hookblade and then play a vow ...

Balance Changes are once again here to destroy my deck, personally.

Nerfs:
Ascetic Lantern to 2-cost 2/2 (from 1-cost 2/1)
Twilight Lantern to 1/3 (from 2/2)
Save the Day to “Kill an enemy unit without Endurance.” (was “Kill an enemy unit.)
Buff:
Youngblood Driver to 4/4 (was 4/2)

I don't see how twilight lantern was too good but Ascetic lantern was always busted and will be missed (I think I had a ~75% win rate the last two months with stonescar reanimator in expedition, which heavily leaned on Ascetic)

I'm not sure if Twilight Lantern was actually unfair but it always feels bad when they slam a bow on it and you eat 14. Part of the problem might be you're forced to deal with it just because it threatens so much damage at any time. Even if they can't trigger it immediately.

I mean, I guess it's a problem if you let it live, but I'd hope that at least expedition decks could deal with it in the two turns before you can play a Bow on it, especially with the extra card from Nightfall.

Honestly I think I just need to take another indefinite break from the game - between organized play dying, MMR being changed twice (the first made laddering stupidly hard, the second made laddering stupidly easy) and my deck being whacked multiple times, I'm just out of motivation to play. Maybe after I finish Zelda I'll be of another mind but I'm not super optimistic that the game won't continue sliding into maintenance mode :/

I was really sleeping on Old Scratch. 12-3 on my last stretch to master with my post lantern nerf Praxis aggro deck. The market choices are kind of whatever and not well optimized. I'm usually grabbing a depleted power anyways.

balance update

riftfeeder wasp is now +2/+2 on empower and draws 2 random power instead of the top 2 power.

kelmaks spear gets voidbound when played from the void.

and two other cards got buffs.

wasp is still fine though certainly was brought down a peg. spear is now more of a card you put in a deck and maybe get extra value instead of building the whole deck around it like before.

new set announced, battlelines. release date is just fall so prob not till like october. there is one spoiler for it,



in addition, the Into Shadows miniset is being added to exp till the new set comes. thats the set with 4 cost vara, telut, and big azindel.

Just went on a tear in sealed this month, 35-5 currently 1st place. Combrei aggro mastery.



this deck has some explosive starts and can handle lategame reasonably well. wary distributor i feel isnt the best in the current set but with mastery units it finds a new home in xulta. i had one game go shen-ra on 1, wary on 2, wary on 3. full power shen-ra.

a good early curve, not running anything in the main that makes me sad, and the pieces just kinda work together. what else can you ask of a limited deck.

that lose in my last game was sadly a mull to 6 and getting stuck on 4 power with ballista marksman on board. oh well, id say my luck held out pretty well as week 3 i went 10-0 and that was the only lose of week 4.
