It would be pretty dope if the movie had hosed up repercussions for Willis' murders. Like killing that drug dealer in the trailer leaves a power vacuum in his neighborhood and his rivals murder the dead drug dealer's entire family (something that actually happened in Chicago) since Willis took out the guy keeping the peace, then the neighborhood turns into a killing field since both sides start ramping up the revenge murders (something that's currently fueling the gang violence that's plaguing the city at the moment). Or he has to make the choice of killing a 10 year old black kid because he's got the heater on him. You need to watch a little movie called the Exterminator if you think those movies were nothing but minority/drug addict murder fests. I mean, that's what they were at their base, but the protagonists were usually painted just as hosed up as the people they were murdering. Robert Ginty's a broken vietnam vet in Exterminator, not the hero the city needs at it's darkest hour or whatever the gently caress's going on in the new Death Wish trailer. This movie's not going to come anywhere close to what films like Combat Shock or Rolling Thunder were doing with the genre a good 30-40 years earlier.

Despite what I said about the new version, I actually think this is pretty cool. They play dramatic music over that scene instead of ACDC and there's a certain cheesiness in it. I don't know how the rest of the movie is, but in the trailer for the new movie it seems more like "gently caress yeah, let's kill criminals" and in this scene it's played very matter-of-factly. Maybe I just have a problem with the music choice? Who knows.

The new Death Wish is going to suck because it's gonna be the same watered-down PG-13 horse poo poo that every other "violent" movie is these days. Death Wish isn't an action movie, it's a slasher from the killer's POV, and Hollywood doesn't do good slashers anymore.

Even if the guy is a cop or a fed or something, he usually gets stymied by his superiors quoting "some bullshit law" and he has to personally execute the bad guys & possibly go underground, but not as a bad guy himself.
