Nah. Poels, Kwia, and Bernal will just drag Thomas up all the mountains instead.

E - Apparently he crashed cause he was blowing his nose and there was a gust of wind.

That's a confident thing to do when you're him. He's a much better downhill racer than he was, but blowing your nose on a windy day at full pelt is a technical manoeuvre.

It does remove the drama of froome v G unfortunately

He's been riding solo round the lanes a lot here the last few days, we keep bumping into him on club rides

There was a very interesting article on pro cyclists relative lack of bone density and why this correlates to a lot of fractures after crashes.

Basically we've got the skeletons of someone about 10-15 years older than we actually are.

Could be precautionary stuff after what happened to Michael Schumacher and bleeding/swelling, but I also hear the femur was a compound fracture, so that could be a bit dire.

Anyway here's a change of subject. Remember van Schip's insanely narrow bars last year? Well his poo poo is even weirder now...

Fracturing a femur takes a huge amount of energy and the rib fractures you get in a crash like that can mean you can't breathe due to the pain so not surprising

That whole '45kph directly into a wall' makes me think there's possibly bruised organs etc in there in addition to the fractures, it's not a fun time

Yeah not the best way to end a career.

I read he had an open fracture of his femur, which is very serious and can be deadly. He's going to need pins etc at the very least.

Wasn't it an infection that caused most of Phinneys troubles? The reason they operated so quickly was to prevent that happening to Froome.
