boxcarhobo posted:maybe they think serge is the key to making a run?? Wasn't serge kinda floundering out in orlando tho, i really haven't paid attention to them this season Naw, Serge is good still. He is at least playing better than he did in OKC last year. Id say he's still better than Ross, but trading a good wing on a good contract AND a first round pick for a one year rental of serge seems like a bad idea.

Normen Power is arguably their best wing at times, Ross is a bench guy scorer and that's about it. The Raptors main weakness is that they have literally no good 4's when Patterson is out, and this allows the Raptors for some awesome "small" ball with Ibaka at the 5 and Patterson at the 4 against the Cavs.

Terrence Ross was probably the Raptors best asset and this just seems like a poor way of spending it. I do think the raptors are better than they were before the trade but I don't think by that much.

Serge boutta get paaaaaid, and good on him. also, all said and done Orlando paid 15 draft spots and whatever minor difference there is between Oladipo and Ross to take a run at the 8 seed with Serge. It was a fuckup, but this could've ended worse for them. Bush Did Outer Heaven fucked around with this message at 17:22 on Feb 14, 2017 |

Raptors have the rights to the Clippers pick this year. Not a huge difference in their records right now but I wonder which they included in the deal.

Way to go Orlando also getting the first out of that, Ross for Serge is a pretty fair deal by itself. The pick will probably be 25th or something so not a big deal. This is what it looks like to try and make a run for Toronto. Its a good move, East got more interesting.

Also if Toronto was interested in signing Serge, they didn't have the cap space to do so without making a trade. Ross is solid but they don't really have a lot of assets to use and keep the team they have together to make a run. Assuming that they can resign Serge in the offseason this isn't a bad deal for either side.

Ok, Toronto would have likely have little use in two lovely first round picks next year, it's not like they'd give 2 rookies burn time making a ECF push.

I really wish people would use the terms "worse" or "better" instead of the ambiguous "low" or "high" when referring to draft picks.

Wanted Serge on the Rockets. Oh well, if Orlando was determined to get a good wing out of it, there wasn't really much Houston could do without being put into a position where KJ McDaniels gets big minutes. So if Toronto re-signs Serge and Lowry, they are capped out for the foreseeable future, right?

They were pretty capped out before this trade, so yeah. Only way to add anything beyond exemption-players is a trade.

I was thinking a couple of days ago that Ibaka would be a good fit in Toronto. I'm still a huge fan of the guy and think he's a great piece for a contending team.

What exactly is the Raptors' hard cap/luxury situation for next year if they give Lowry the max and Ibaka a near max?

Tax threshold is probably 130, so they'll be right up against it.
