ToastyPotato posted:And didn't they make it so that these new versions made to avoid paying royalties will not count for royalties themselves because they are "derivative" of pre-existing characters? That was part of the runaround with Killer Frost. There's some allegation that they changed Mr Terrific's name to avoid paying John Ostrander full royalties.

I just like her arc and villianous plan this season. The flowers that grew out of people's bodies was brutal.

Although it is kind of funny how they really obviously can't afford to do a special effect where you actually SEE it growing out of a person.

I was kind of hoping dd season 2 would get back to lawyering and Matt could hire Jess for some PI work, but if it is born again then I doubt it.

Well my point was that Nuke is inconsequential to the story. Any villain can be used and hey, this is a likely time to introduce Bullseye.

I hope we get to a point in the MCU like we are in the comics where Turk has an Infinity Stone.

I think it is safe to say that when ever a big story arc is claimed to be adapted, they generally mean only the general theme or themes (and possibly some interesting visuals), and not specific characterizations and character developments, especially for secondary characters. Marvel Netflix has their own little world going, so it would be ridiculously awful if they suddenly do what no one making comic movies and TV adaptations has done and randomly copy paste an actual comic script onto the screen. I'm not familiar with the Born Again story line, but I'm sure there is a brief synopsis that will probably be the basis for the new season. Matt's character arc will likely be the most similar thing.

# ? Mar 19, 2018 04:52 |
It's just that the Nuke part of Born Again is like the best few issues of a Daredevil comic maybe ever, and now they can't do any of it. That straight up blows no matter how you look at it. I thought Nuke was interesting in season 1 of Jessica Jones and I thought he'd just show up as even more jacked up and like his comic book version later down the line, but instead he got killed offscreen to show how scary a really boring new villain is.

Sometimes they just use the name. Thor: Ragnarok has almost nothing in common with the comics where Ragnarok actually came. And then there's Age of Ultron...

For me it's like when they announced Punisher in DD S2. I did not want a word for word redo of the rooftop scene. In fact, what they came up with is better than what happened in the comics in my opinion. However, I did expect a version of it. There are a few key sequences in Born Again to me. Nuke is one of them. It wouldn't be the same, no, but I thought it would be an adaptation of it.

As long as they don't cover any ground his show was supposed to. I wouldn't exactly trust the Legends team to do it any good, and I would love for Constantine to get another chance.

Plus, like the article said, the CW is adding another day to their schedule, so they'll need content and Legends is a solid performer by their standards. I was a little worried they might decide to only keep one of Legends or Supergirl, but now I'm fairly confident CW will keep all their Arrowverse shows, and maybe even iZombie!

I'd honestly rather watch something based on Bendis' run where Daredevil is publicly outed but Matt Murdock still pretends he isn't Daredevil than an incredibly loose adaptation of Born Again. Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Danny Rand also all have cameos in that run you if want your synchronicity.

I'd love for them to do a riff on the current comic "Mayor Fisk" storyline. I fuckin' loved d'Onofrio in season 1, sue me. I just finished JJ and I thought the performances were great even if I didn't think the story particularly was. I think Hogarth's situation tied in just enough to be relevant to the A-plot and no more, gave her lots of room to stand on her own away from Jessica and yet didn't feel extraneous though it really could have. I wonder if them dropping her as a character tying the stories together had to do with viewer feedback or if they just decided that element had run its course after Defenders. I'd bet it's a little of running its course and a little that she kind of got upgraded to a main character in Luke Cage, so they're probably just having her stay there instead of popping off to other shows.
