I once found a Viper school steel sword at a random blacksmith. At first I thought that I must have sold it to him by accident way earlier but it turns out I had my crafted Viper school sword safe in my stash. From the lore point of view it was weird that some random villager had a rare items like that but on the other hand I guess he could have found it somewhere and simply had it in his inventory for sale.

I found a named Witcher gear sword in a random chest late in my game. It way out-leveled me so I never got to use it, but I guess stuff like that is just scattered about the randomized loot tables that vendors use too.

Yeah, still though, you'd think someone with that amount of heat would stop all together. It's like someone who is hacking getting heat from the NSA or something and then be like, "I'm not gonna hack websites or databases, I'm just gonna hack other people's computers or download torrents." type of thing.

Either or, Geralt is a great sarcastic prick sometimes and it's fun to play with that.

It's getting to the point where I am giddy with excitement to go home and play again. Haven't been like that for a while with any game I've been into. Besides Destiny, but that was months ago.

Gold, I'm assuming, gets easier to get. Along with Emerald dust, and stuff. I'm largely into fun fun weapons, so I like to experiemt, but is there any weapon archtype I should be aware of that just suck over and over again? Example, I like the sword so far (only level 4) because sometimes when you decapitate someone they fly away with their head. Do you do like a Manny Ramirez swing with a staff?

Armor type, doesn't matter light vs heavy right? Just go for stats? DLC Coming? Worth it? Mounted combat, does this ever become a thing? Because I try to do it sometimes and I just get thrown from Roach.

Also played Ciri for the first time and holy poo poo is she fun.

Is it Teigr? Also, spelling that out I just realized its an anagram of Tiger and I guess if you say it it still sounds like Tiger :suicide:

Keep an eye on Roach's fear level, monsters will set it off quicker than humans. You can calm him with Axii, which is the only Sign you can cast while mounted. You do a ton more damage while mounted but you do need to line up your shots and maintain a good speed. I found it really fun as a change of pace.

Just bought the game through GMG being lured in by the sweet discount, key turns out to be invalid and now I'm stuck waiting on their slow support. Just a heads up to anyone on the fence.

Edit: Well, support came through with a working key rather fast so no harm no foul I guess.

1.08 has to hit first (it apparently lays some groundwork to enable it) and then we might see it in a week or two later, maybe.

Given that we got patchnotes for 1.08 late last week, we will hopefully see it this week. NG+ could be any time after that.

^^ Please send feedback to beefstache911@hotmail.com, this is not a joke that 'stache is the real deal. Serious assessments only. ^^

My 2nd playthrough has revealed all sorts of things I missed originally.

Some highlights include: Talking to a guy with an exclamation point above his head who gave me a contract to find his brother. The quest was red skull for me at the time so I said gently caress it and kept exploring. Not minutes later I stumble upon a pair of wyvern nests. I killed both of them and then BOOM cutscene where a gigantic royal wyvern appears out of nowhere. I fight and kill it and suddenly I find that the red skull quest I had literally just picked up completed. Stumbling onto quests in different ways is one of the most endearing things about this game.

Finally having the balls to listen quietly as Triss is tortured in the next room. It's pretty agonizing and the staring contest between Geralt and Menge while the screaming goes on is downright amazing. I still hosed up on purpose by asking about the treasure because I wanted to be on Sigi's good side this game.

The old lady with the missing chickens: stolen by kids who put wolf paws on their feet to disguise their tracks. The entire quest was very :unsmith: especially if you go back later and hear the old lady talking to the kids.

Finally not locking myself out of asking Triss about the Nobleman figurine and also about Phillipa's cracked gem

Not loving up the carnal sins quest. The part where Geralt goes "I'm pretty good with a sword" and the Vampire's voice starts to get very demonic as he transforms and says "Pretty good just might not cut it" was very :black101:

Interactions with Letho, in any way shape or form, are all awesome.

As far as the overall experience goes between my first playthrough and this one, I have to say the quality of life patches are all marvelous. Movement controls have improved substantially, controlling Roche is better although there are still some bridges that give me trouble, the inventory is better (but still sucks overall): filtering is cool, but overall I still dread going into inventory. Being able to pin alchemy recipes is super helpful, but I hate it that every time you move between the alchemy menu and the shop menu it totally resets the alchemy menu so if you're trying to check your potions you have to re-collapse all the other open tabs and then scroll down to the potion you're working on.

But I have to say my biggest gripe overall is weapons. I can't stand it that I kill a level 23 Royal Wryven and get a level 14 sword that is already obsolete. This happens all the loving time. Using the witcher gear swords is cool and all, but it'd be nice if the "legendary swords" you get as rewards have levels appropriate with the enemies that you defeat to get them. I don't care about armor as much, because I think the Witcher gear all looks better in almost every case with a couple exceptions, but finding cool weapon #56 that has lower numbers and a lower level requirement that isn't differentiated at all from weapon #42 is so :negative:

There's a couple locations I used it but one of them is in south Velen and was bugged for me last I tried where the scene would keep repeating and the quest wouldn't advance. Another one is in Velen a bit west of Crow's Perch. Look for the lamp markers on the map.

In addition to the Velen location there's a quest in Kaer Morhen that uses the lamp. There aren't more than a handful of quests that use it and it's pretty obvious when you need to pull it out.

I would not be surprised if there are some secrets or easter eggs involving using the lamp in unmarked locations.

Small chance of that...
I'd love to see another game where you play as Ciri but I have no idea how they'd do it and make it challenging at all. If she gets her magic back she'd be the single most powerful person in the world by far. Even without the magic, she wouldn't have to hold her reality warping powers back without the hunt tracking her.

It could take place before the events of W3. You would have to "discover" the location that you needed to warp to next for the story. If your health is reduced to zero, you automatically warp to a random location instead of dying. There's lots of neat things they could do with it if they wanted.

It takes only the tiniest bit of creativity to make it feasible. It's not like dealing with potentially overpowered protagonists is something video games haven't been handling for twenty years.

No prequels please, though. Besides, if it's a sequel they can bullshit something about dealing with the White Frost damaging her abilities so you have to slowly get them back over time. Instant power progression justification.

The mortician starts talking about how I almost caught him in the act with Patricia Vegelbud, but that was based on a clue that he gave me himself. Why did he tell me who his next victim would be and then...what, do the bat thing and fly there ahead of me? Is it the same reason he leaves the notes at all (i.e. he's just being a dick)?

All this time he was trying to frame Reverend Nathaniel - the guy torturing the prostitute who is indicated as the next victim after Patricia. His idea was to make you think that you caught the culprit so that he could continue his killings when everything settles down a bit. He risked a lot doing this which includes killing Patricia just as you entered her mansion.

Carnal Sins It's pretty hosed up to do that quest then read Baptism of Fire and realize that the vampire isn't even really dead at the end of it. In a decade or three he'll have regenerated and gone back to being a serial killer. Geralt just doesn't have the means to kill him permanently.

I screwed up Carnal Sins by taking the now obvious bait that was Nathaniel. I knew it seemed too obvious but A) I underestimated the game and B) was wary of stalling and possibly getting the prostitute killed, so I attacked first. On the plus side, after all that build up Natahaniel got put down in three strikes, the last of which was the 'take out the knees - decapitation'. OUt of all possible finishers, I felt like making a priest kneel for his sins was the most apt way that could have played out, so I barely even care I hosed it up now
