It's actually interesting to me that there are so few human deaths from Orcas, given their whole penchant for "surplus killing." If what I read is correct, literally the only human fatalities are from Orcas in captivity (which obviously fucks with them in some way, since they have much lower lifespans in captivity than in the wild), with 3 of those 4 all being from the same Orca. It was also interesting learning that they have very human-like life-spans, and apparently most Orcas spend their entire lives living with their moms. There was also apparently one situation where a male Orca's mom helped him kill the calf of a female Orca he wanted to mate with. Very supportive parenting.
