Polo Towers? I just google mapped it, I guess it's a 6-7 min walk north up the strip from the MGM.

That's more like a 20-25 minute walk since MGM is immense, and most of the rooms are at the opposite end of the property from the exit you would use to walk to the Polo Towers.

I always see that they have a bunch of rooms on VRBO that are screaming deals, and am always tempted to stay there, but I always think to myself... the polo towers? And then end up staying somewhere with some name cache. So, not that great?

Edit:
MGM is on the strip and a decent place to stay (with good proximity to everything). Hard Rock is a cooler hotel/casino, but off-strip and near nothing. Polo Towers is off-strip and also near nothing. Stay at MGM. But Planet Hollywood is better.

Like a fist wrapped in blood...
Just got back Wednesday night from a 5-day long trip in Vegas with a group of 13 other people who are work associated with my girlfriend, where I basically did everything Vegas-y for my first time in Vegas!

- Got to see Joan Jett perform live two blocks from our hotel. (Everyone else in our group were staying at the Downtown Grand, so we followed suit).

- Checked out the Mob Museum and Neon Museum, both kind of neat as they seemed to be the only places in the city that focused on it's history.

- Saw an amazing extravagant show (Le Reve) and also managed to score cheap Penn & Teller tickets as a random last minute choice. (We saw another Spiegelworld show recently, so we skipped on Absinthe, and no concerts really interested us).

- Ate some amazing food, including going to the Golden Steer steakhouse and having a $54 steak that ended up being worth every penny.

- Experienced the thrill of dancing to an awesome hair metal cover band while being surrounded by crazy lights, all types of people, and carrying a Big Gulp sized alcoholic beverage in the middle of an open street.

- Went on a guided tour in the Valley of Fire state park, where he knew where we could go off trail, start bouldering rocks, and see some stunning views few people get to see.

- As if the bouldering wasn't enough to challenge my fear of heights, I also did the Slotzilla Zipline where you fly superman style through the flashing lights of the casinos of Fremont Street.

- A couple who were with us had been together for 17 years and come to Las Vegas every year, and always make a joke about getting hitched there. Well, this year he arranged for him to propose with a ring to her, pick up their forms at the marriage license office, and have her walk down the aisle with Elvis at the Graceland chapel within the same one hour span of time. Everyone knew but her, so we had to play along with a series of lies as to why we had a limo and everyone had to dress up one hot afternoon! It was as adorable as you could hope for, and I got pretty teary-eyed.

- The night before I left, I put $4 in chips on the 40-to-1 bet at the Wheel of Fortune at the Golden Nugget and walked away with $160.

I won't lie, there were still things that I didn't like about the place (it truly shows off both the best and worst of capitalism, and all of us felt like time spent on the strip was equal parts disgusting, depressing and boring). But, as someone with no real interest in gambling, who prefers quiet, cultural experiences for my vacation to loud excesses and being surrounded by drunken douchebags, and who expected a lot of sitting around at a bar while the other members of the group whined endlessly about work stuff I had no understanding of, I went in with the expectation that it would be a tolerable experience at best. Instead, it ended up being some good corny fun, even if a little pricy. Ironically, my girlfriend liked it much less than she thought. Not somewhere I would go back to every year like other people in the group, but I could see myself returning at least once in my life, but definitely to the downtown section again.

Come on Bob! The WORLD WIDE WEB!
So, doing my first trip to Vegas during the last week of July. Where I will be getting married at the Little White Wedding Chapel!

Met my fiancé when she was on a working holiday visa from New Zealand here in Canada. We figure Vegas will be a fun place to get married and is much easier for her family to fly into from New Zealand than it is to Toronto.

We're doing our own respective "bachelor, bachelorette" parties on the Friday night, using Saturday as the recovery day, and then tie the knot Sunday morning at 10am. We are looking into renting a shuttle bus to take us from the Chapel to the Las Vegas sign for photos and then down the strip to have a Brunch reception with the entire group.

Jay (or any other Las Vegas goons), any recommendations for a nice Sunday boozy breakfast/brunch spot on the strip? We're looking at roughly 24 people coming down. Buffet or Non Buffet works, and while we are realistic as to costs and not trying to cut corners, we ARE paying for the entire party and the New Zealand and Canadian dollar are both pretty crappy right now so reasonable pricing per head ($20-25 not including booze) would be great.

We're not picky and open to all suggestions :)

Congrats on the upcoming wedding -- I'm going to throw this place out there for a good boozy brunch within your price point: http://www.yelp.com/biz/mon-ami-gabi-las-vegas-2
Just dear lord call immediately since I have no idea if they can accommodate a 24 person party on a weekend.

You'll probably be a tad higher going to STK brunch, my guess would be in the $50-60 range if you're assuming a decent dish and a drink or two per person plus tip.

Is there a consensus on renting/borrowing//bringing mobility aids such as wheelchairs or fat people scooters for a 7 day stay? We're not super poor, but not out of the realm of budgeting either. I've seen a bunch of wheelchairs on craigslist we can simply purchase and take on a plane, but poo poo it's gonna be 100+ degrees in august... are electric walmart type scooters a thing that one can rent for less than ~$400 a week or should I be happy to get strong legs from pushing someone? I don't mind the job, but if throwing money at a thing can free up a margarita hand, then I will do this instead. We're gonna rent a car/van for the week, is there a company that makes a deal for the traveling disabled or something?

I can't wait for this poo poo either way.

I've never gone with him, but my dad rents a fat people scooter when he goes to Vegas and always raves about how accessible everything is. Call your hotel but he seems to imply that its a cheapish rental on the order of $20 or less a day.

Hey guys! I'm having a good time, what about you?

Ended up with last minute plans for Vegas this weekend and my girlfriend & I would like to see a show. I know that the street ticket booths are recommended, but does that advice still apply for a holiday weekend? Is Vegas even busy for the 4th or is it just business as usual? We're leaning toward Zumanity but right now have nothing set in stone and will mostly wing it once we're there.

Also open to any 4th of July suggestions if anybody has ideas.

1 week till I'm in Vegas, and I can't wait. This is my 1st time, and I'll be there the 14th to the 18th. I used your website to book my room at the MGM, thanks JaySB.

We got a good group going, 7 girls, 5 guys, celebrating 2, 30th birth days. Really the only things we got planned our Gordon Ramsey's Steak house on Thurs, and I think we were going to the pool party on Sunday at the Rehab. My co worker who goes to Vegas every year said that Rehab sucks, it's full of meat heads. He said the pool at the MGM is better. Confirm / Deny?

I'm actually really excited for the WSOP. I got a few friends playing and it looks like I'll be there for the Main Event days 3-7. Can anyone go in there and watch? I was a PITR poster back in the day and I'd love to check it out for a little.

All in all, we really only got a few things planned. That Absenthe show sounds pretty cool, I might go check that out. JaySB, do you still do the concierge stuff?

Yep, it's kind of a zoo, but anyone can walk around the Rio and check it out. Live poker with no hole cards can be kind of boring though, so you probably won't want to stick around too long. However, it's worth giving it a walk through and seeing just for the spectacle; you probably won't see more poker players in the same place anywhere else.

Hey Jay, do you have different people on your website for activities and clubs than hotels?

You had really great hotel rates, but the people I am talking to seem like maybe not the right ones for anything else? Do I need to make a new request on the site that would go to someone else?

Seriously though, kind of amazing hotel rates and really great customer service on the hotel side.

My wife and I decided to go to Vegas at the end of this month since neither of us have been there as adults. Mostly planning on eating at as many delicious restaurants as we can manage, doing some drinking, seeing some shows and general sightseeing. Not planning on gambling much if at all. I'm trying to figure out where the best places for us to stay might be. Ideally I think we're looking for sort of an iconic Vegas experience, somewhere with a good view, and I'm also a sucker for cushy/spendy/luxury hotels. Was looking at something like Caesars/Nobu, Mandarin Oriental, or Wynn/Encore. Kind of leaning Caesars since it's classic, center strip, Absinthe is right there (and you guys have me sold on that), and I hear good things about the spa and pool. Mainly wondering if there's anywhere else we should consider, and what kind of shape it's in. I've heard there are several towers, and some are in better shape than others?

Since we're planning this trip on pretty short notice, are we better off booking at the best rate we can find right now, or is there a chance we can get some kinda crazy discount somewhere nice by holding out for another week?

JaySB

Wynn/Encore or Bellagio or Venetian/Pallazzo are very classy, luxury and purely Vegas as well. Cosmo is also great.

Wynn/Encore is my favorite of the bunch but you can't go wrong at any property. Mandarin is great but it is really not the quintessential Vegas experience.

Must eats for nice food:
Joel Robuchon
Twist
Guy Savoy
L'Atelier De Joel Robuchon

I would add Le Cirque to the top of that list currently. Chef Bergerhausen is putting out the best meal in Vegas right now. Twist shuffled chefs so I've heard mixed things lately but their new pastry chef is extremely talented.

Twist is great. They have a new meal there designed around grand cru wine pairings. 7 courses for $777...It's amazing. And yes, it is in the Mandarin.

Those are fun and worth the taxi/uber.

Also, those restaurants are all going to be a bit spendy but you generally get what you've paid for. $150 is also relatively inexpensive in the grand scheme of Vegas spending - if you're going there to eat delicious food, I'd definitely recommend at least one of what JaySB has recommended.

Le Cirque is a good time for sure. As close to perfect as it is possible to get.

Might check out Attiellier or Twist this go around, but I'd have to sell a ton of what I sell in the next few months to do the $777 meal for two...
