If you have members in University you could also try to start a YDS, most schools give free space to their clubs and let them sponsor events, you can have your YDS reserve University library on a Saturday to "sponsor" the DSA meeting.

i went to my first DSA event last night. we read three articles before we got in and discussed them at someone's apartment. there was also food and drink. later i sent an email to everyone about an event at a synagogue hosted by someone who wants to make neighborhoods immigrant sanctuaries, and two have confirmed that they're going along there were only seven people there (i'm in a south brooklyn neighborhood) but i'm sure we'll grow and thrive

People could only vote for 3, and he was running against an incumbent dem, an establishment Dem, and someone promising the city will legalize weed somehow. Don't try to figure out ways to get them to come. Figure out ways to go to them and serve them. I've been in Houston ISD for too long now, and we are either sitting around whining about all the drop-outs or we are physically going out into the community to knock on doors of last-known addresses and hunting down every single kid we can and hook them and their families up with every single aid organization we can think of. Guess which strategy works the best! After the flooding in Houston two years ago, the Mormons had their missionaries out there cleaning up. They were in old ladies' houses clearing out decades of piled-up trash. They were clearing debris. They were mowing lawns and trimming trees.And they were wearing some kind of "Mormons Are Helpful and Cool!" shirt. Guess what, our neighborhood loved them and talked to them.

The Lincoln chapter was drafting its constitution around this time, so we didn't get around to officially endorsing Lou until like a week before the primary.
