I just beat my first End-Game Crisis. I am a huge fan of the ending of the Undead Scourge. I also retired and my save is gone... I don't know if I am up to start over yet.

I imagine my entire backline looks like this: Also, why are undead War Scythes so rare? Unique polearms are far easier to come.

Honestly all you need is a couple of shieldwall plebs that you don't expect to survive, throwing axes and maybe a 2h berserker to flank once they're sufficiently weakened. I expect you could beat most aux lines with 8 archers and 4 melee dudes this way.

Is throwing axe masters a legit build? Might attempt this rather than my longbows, because frankly I'm having some trouble reaching out and touching heavy knights as it is.

They legitimately do more damage than bows to armour but most people are recommending them because they actually do damage to skele's whereas bolts and arrows do gently caress all.

Throwing weapons benefit from Duelist perk but they also use up 3x the "ammunition" so they can get expensive fast.

I'm thinking Quick Hands, two bundles of flying ouch and a halberd/2-hander ought to do it?

Yeah, if you're up against undead you can just use the axes with no shield, if you're up against knights rotate the shield in and forgo duelist so you don't get sniped.

Most of the heaviest armored enemies in the game are not the most dangerous threats in the enemy composition. Longbows are meant to kill billmen, arbalesters, and orc berserkers in those battles. Orc warriors have slightly more attack than orc young, but a lot more defense. Only ancient honor guards manage to have the most offense and the best armor in their faction, but it's worth it for those sweet, sweet warscythes.

I still don't like them because they're expensive and the use you'll get out of them isn't much because of the range. That said, i've got a guy with unique javs, they hurt pretty well.

We're talking about ammo. Gold wise they're cheap (i'm running around with 80k at any given time now) but they eat through ammunition like crazy, which makes long expeditions into the wild unfeasible.

Is ammo perishable? Otherwise it's just taping arrows to your nutsacks and going to town.
|
# ? May 26, 2017 11:57 |

Find a town with a fletcher and get to a decent standings with them. Stacks of 50 ammo for less than 80 gold means who gives a drat about Jav/Throwing Axe costs.

# ? May 26, 2017 12:46 |

I do, because 250 ammo is the max you can carry at a time and i burn through that really quickly if i use lots of throwing weapons.

Tias posted:Finally completed the game, after clocking in 299 hours. Yes, I am aware I'm an idiot. If they had another tier of throwing weapons, they'd be great. But bows and xbows can be upgraded to warbows and heavy crossbows at any old fletcher, instead of having to pray for a unique throwing weapons. Sure, the throwing mastery increases damage, but only at very close range. So now throwing weapons are competing with longaxes, billhooks, or god forbid warscythes.

Is there an event with an ancient sword + historian since he's mentioned in it's description? I've already had him remove a 'dumb' trait, but nothing else yet. Do I need to keep it equipped??

Historians own bones if you can get a decent one because of events like the one where he's like 'No, guys, the sun is at least 10,000 miles away, it's crazy far! And some guys I know say the stars aren't our dead ancestors' souls at all, but rather more suns that are even crazy further!' and after he reassures everyone he doesn't believe that blasphemy they all have a good laugh at the 'smart' guy and gain morale.

For a game that is balanced around a 160 day campaign, it takes like 80 days to go from 100% hostile to neutral. You may as well write off the entire noble house for until the next crisis. But if you can take on 10-16 noble soldiers, small noble companies and supply wagons are a good source of high tier armor and weapons.

IIRC he drops it. Not 100% on that though. He doesn't leave immediately when the crisis ends, so you'll definitely be safe having him geared up until that point, then stripping him or giving him gear you don't care about. Like 90% sure he drops it though.

I'm actually running a flail specialist with the two handed orc flail right now and it's going well.
