anyways i started Kaguya & it surprised me how different what it was from what i was expecting. far less a standard romcom which works well for it, and i love how it's announced with the fervor of a soccer match. dunno how you get three seasons/however many chapters out of the concept but hell, im curious to see how

Yeah I wouldn't call Shimoneta wholesome. It's a show specifically about dirty things even if they don't show most of the ecchi content. My favorite episode was the one where they reseeded a forest with woods porn.

mostly it shifts into an actual romantic drama mode (though still with a fair amount of comedy) how kaguya evolves/shifts as it goes on is interesting the guy comes across slightly incel-y early on though at times and the author never completely gets over their impulse to talk about The Differences Between Men And Women...

They expand the concept by having more characters in the mix so it's not just the two leads bouncing off of each other. The other characters aren't involved in the love plot except tangentially.

Update on the late-christmas pasta: it was very good. My mom added some red pepper to the sauce so it had a nice bit of spiciness. Also had monkey bread for breakfast while staying there as per christmas tradition. Was nice.

Kaguya is immensely good, partly for the reason that the author finds a way to make the formula work for quite a long time without the story spinning its wheels all that much.

I'm enjoying the Couple of Cuckoos dub. Don't quite remember how I wound up watching it that way but it's ok. Wish the story wasn't dipping into weird SisCon stuff but trying to power through before the new year.

kaguya's so good, and im glad that it seems like they're gonna animate the whole thing. usually romcom wheel-spinning plots really bug me, but kaguya's paced well enough that they're always kind of making very small but significant progress in their 'relationship', so it never feels like its resetting to a status quo also im glad that i think thanks to this thread i got to read the first chapter of oshi no ko unspoiled because lmao

kaguya has some serious bits but its still a skit comedy at its core, its got at least as much dna in common with, like, nichijou as it does with your average romcom anime
