My favorite were the old ladies asking what would happen if they murdered me on the spot and whether I’d go to heaven or not. Lady, I’ll gladly pull the trigger if you had the gun to free me of this hell on earth and being in front of you for a second longer.

Both my bosses were 30 mins late today because they forgot what time they told the rest of us to start. Everyone was fine with it, for we had clocked in. It was still a good ol' day of dirty work.

Essentially he is asking you to work 15 minutes before your shift. If you are hourly you can have a chat with HR about it and they can shut it down quickly because the company can get in trouble. Or you can start clocking in or add 15 minutes to your timesheets or leave 15 min early. No one believes in the 15 minutes early on time BS, i am always 1-3 minutes late on every meeting as a consultant.

It's fashionable to be half an hour late for a reason. Point out to any boss how utterly unfashionable they're being for asking you to come in early. No wonder they're never invited anywhere in polite society.

Would the easiest way for HR to shut it down be to find some reason to have you fired? Seems easier to cut the single employee advocating for themselves than to try and shift the entire perspective of management on the idea of wage theft.

Cyks posted:It sure is. The Captain tells the XO he wants an all-hands call at 10:00. The XO tells the Divos to have everyone ready by 9:45. The Divos tell their Chiefs to have people lined up by 9:30. The Chiefs tell their LPOs that everyone needs to be there by 9:15. You end up standing in formation for a loving hour just so the Captain can spend 3 minutes wishing you a nice weekend.

When I was working in China, we had to sign in with our finger prints so the management knew when everyone arrived in the office, and then sign out so they knew when we left. Our working time was 09:30 am - 6:30pm. I was, and still am, in the habot of getting up early, so I would often be in the office at 8 am or early. This was fine since I was the only one there so early, and the internet + VPN in the office was much better than at home so I just spent the time shitposting here, checking social media (I know I know) or watching youtube. But I always made sure to leave at time. During my yearly review one time, my manager told me: "It's good that you come early, but you also leave on time every day". I don't remember what I replied, but it wasn't like they were paying us for overtime or anything. I quit that job soon after.
