Take it out, and throw a Gen III/IV in it. Less effort, it's lighter, even if you use a truck engine (B-body LT1s have iron heads,) more power, more reliable, cheaper, and more efficient. It's really a no brainer. It's a stupid-easy swap, too.

It's a must for anyone looking to go north of 7k because the LT1 computer literally can't handle that high of RPM

At least, this is true for L31s, I assume it's also true of optispark. It's too bad that the computer isn't very flexible; might as well just leave it stock or dump an LM7 in it. At least it doesn't have the stupid spider injection thing that the L31 has.

I like it when the seller puts "amazing deal" or "must sell today" in the title so I can skip it knowing it will be an overpriced piece of poo poo. If you absolutely must sell it today, you might want to ask something less than twice its value.

I have a feeling, fully loaded, that the hamster wheel engine would struggle climb a modest hill.

http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/4860471022.html This would be so nice if I could get it working, but the parts and knowledge supply in the states is so low I'm sure it'd be a nightmare. I am actually fluent in French, but not fluent in more than basic car repair. 150 hp, 2700 lbs, 0-60 in 8.2...basically French FWD E30.

Tommychu posted:There was a turbo 106 up on kijiji here for the better part of a year tempting the hell out of me, it's gone now but that's probably for the best. I'm waiting to hear what the owner has tried to fix the problem with this: quote:intermittent no start/stalling issue. Has died on me a few times and fails to restart for 30+ min, occasionally fails to start at all. Problem seems to occur most often when the engine is hot, either on long trips or hotter days. Short trips on colder days can usually be made with no issues. Previous owner suspected the fuel pump, I suspected the fuel injection system. I have inspected and replaced a few parts and have yet to solve the problem. I'm wondering it it's something as simple as a crank sensor or something. Rockauto amazingly has pretty much everything for the car. It could possibly be a problem with the ECU, though (apparently they are in a location that can get wet) which is a lot harder to find - exactly one of them on Carpart for 1989, none on eBay or anything that I can find.

Not worth it imo, you'll end up selling it at a loss when you can't figure it out and don't want to pony up the cash to get it fixed. Leave those to the french car experts.

There's a beautiful 2 door e30 in my complex, it sat covered in a space for months, then all of a sudden moved one day out by the main office, uncovered and hasn't moved from there for months again. I want to find the owner and offer to buy it instead of seeing it sit there every day.
