I love the Fake Science guys so much. They're doing letters of recommendation and I asked for one. They sent me this hilarious one http://fakescience.tumblr.com/ And some legit content. This time Such Gold. Hopefully I'll be able to get all the photos online tonight flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ehansenphoto/4887038752/ So I'm not double posting all my photos from the show (well, links to them) can be found here: http://two-senses.com/keep-this-to-yourself-release-show pr0digal fucked around with this message at 06:02 on Aug 14, 2010 |

Do you see that photog in the center of the shot? What the hell is he doing? He's got his flash on a synch chord but it looks like he's pointing it straight down?

Interesting thought. I was more curious about why Zac Efron is crowd surfing in your photo.

Using very direct and undiffused flash. I was talking to one of the kids in the crowd he was like "it almost gave me a seizure!" I have no idea who he is so I don't know how his photos turned out Tangerine: for this show I was firing my flash straight up. The ceiling was low and white so I just bounced it with a slow shutter speed (around 1/13 to 1/16). If I am shooting straight on I'll use some sort of diffuser (which is often a whipped cream tub with a t-shirt on the end). Oh and Zac REALLY loves Title Fight

It also appears to have a different kind of log-in, but I just got my log-in for the SS.com site. After I finish editing this promo shoot I did I'll have more free-time to dig around and spend on figuring stuff out.

I have shot concerts with an 80mm f/1.9 in medium format and the razor-thin DOF is brutal for low-light manual focusing on moving subjects. A bit late, but if you're shooting digital you can just focus-bracket, works pretty well for me.

I didn't. I didn't pay for the hosting of the site, and I don't have access to the Cpanel (at least not right now). Another goon is taking care of it. Like I said, I need to finish these promos first, since personal stuff comes first. If you guys are itching to get some work in, start working on some write-ups/pictures and I promise you we'll have stuff ready to go by Sunday night.

Just got into Connecticut for my work trip/ shoot Ozzfest this weekend. I still haven't even gotten final confirmation from MSO again. They're really lagging this summer it seems, normally they are on point about confirmations and all that. I sent an email earlier this week to look into it, but haven't heard back. If I don't hear back tomorrow I'll probably have to call. This could be an Ozzfest issue though, apparently the actual press tickets themselves are super limited (that shouldn't affect passes though) and bands don't even have guest lists for the entire tour according to my friend who'd playing on the tour.

I'm the one putting up hosting/and the one that set up the SS.com site, I'll try and set it forward tonight. My mom had neurosurgery on tuesday, so I haven't been working on it as much as I've wanted. I do have a friend working on a logo for us as we speak though.

Good luck! MSO didn't get back to me about warped tour until literally 8pm the night before. Then they sent out the "check in at the press tent" e-mail during the show. Thankfully I have my e-mail forwarded to my phone or I would have missed that.

I sent an email to another contact of mine at MSO who can hopefully check on it for me. If I don't hear back in a couple hours I'm gonna have to try to call. I really wish the girl who used to handle all the big tours was still there, I never had to wait like this to get confirmation before.

PS: If I have your email, you should check it. SoundSurveillance.com is open for posting. Edit: Turns out there is a way to do it. But it looks like it imports the username of the original post, and since we want people to use actual names I think we'll just pass on it and develop a new system and then repost the 4 posts or whatever. I think that will keep things a lot less messy. AtomicManiac fucked around with this message at 11:12 on Aug 21, 2010 |

First ever concert pictures! Well, I once took some from the audience, but that doesn't count. Nouvelle Vague at Brussels Summer Festival: Here's the rest of them: http://www.kennethdepoorter.be/photos/music/nouvelle-vague/ I find it loving hard to select less than 30 pictures My first selection was 109 pictures, I just don't have the heart to 'reject' them. Eventually just said gently caress this and crossed a bunch off. Can't shake the feeling the best ones just might be among those crossed off ones...

A Canon 550D that I bought last week as my first 'real' camera, and a 70-200mm lens I borrowed from my ex is what I used. Was amazingly fun, how relaxed you are when you have the whole frontstage for yourself while thousands of people are pushed upon eachother behind you is amazing After they chased the photographers away from the frontstage, the last pictures I took I balanced on a garbage bin on the side of the audience about 50m from the stage. God I love this, next week a Django Reinhardt tribute and the week there after I'm shooting Circle, an avant-garde post-rock Finnish rock band or however the hell you'd call something like that.
