Its generally between AFT and DE, personally I'm a big fan of AFT. DE increases your fire chance from 18% to 21% I believe. You have 12 barrels firing every 14 seconds, someone did the maths and DE is not as useful in that scenario as it would be for the likes of Atlanta (5%-8%, 14 barrels every 5s), Des Moines (12%-15%, 9 barrels every 6s) or Chapyaev (similar stats to Des Moines).

AFT turns the Zao AA from mediocre into decent, also helps your secondaries, and in the event that CVs make a come back you will be future proof.

I'm interested in this because I've taken it upon myself to go after a Khab and have just reached a fully upgraded Tashkent but with a new captain who only has 6/7 points so far (I'm keeping my Kiev with its 15 point captain). My understanding is that for the Udaloi/Khab, you would want AFT+DE and hence never get CE? But if you have taken it, at 17 points, why then?

I think the ultimate Russian DD captain would have AFT+DE+SE tbh. 18 points is tough but obtainable (I have one in my Atlanta/Des Moines).

Not had many different maps to check yet, but on Two Brothers, domination mode now starts off with caps B and C, ie the ones right in front of spawn, already captured.

Also, right now when I complete a daily and come back to port, the ship still shows as not having done a daily, but when I play a battle in a different ship and come back to port, it doesn't show anymore.

I only played 3 games but it seems my loading times were slightly better. They actually took a real bad hit a few patches back (the patch whose primary change was to IMPROVE loading times) but after this one it feels better.

Also received 2.2m creds when I logged in for some reason, although I don't really need them for now. My next ship is the Udaloi and is about 150k XP away. The German BB line will pay for itself up to T8 at least.

I was a doofus and got situational awareness & basic fire training AND last stand & expert marksman early on and ran with it.

Didn't bother with DE. RoF is good enough without the extra fire chance & I try to put myself in a position to shoot mainly AP to best leverage the DPM.

CE was not really a priority because if I'm shooting at range I'm not liable to get hit and if I'm close I'll be spotted anyway. Khab is the first Rus DD that can reasonably stealth torp

Just got the TrashcanTashkent and so far it's not as bad as I had feared. Play it like a stealthy light cruiser, accept that you'll be spotted, and keep those guns singing. It's annoying that it has less range than the Kiev but with the hull upgrade you have a decent amount of HP.

Sorry, fellow trashcan captain. I too dreaded getting the ship, it feels bad, but I end up doing ok with it. Holding my breath for the rest of the line. You definitely need to play it like a cruiser.

Also, that same game, I enjoyed bullying DD with my new ATL radar... hilarious. Just makes me wish I had the flint even more.

I like it at 10km. Out of torp range, still far enough for the turrets to turn, but within range of my secondaries. But really, anything within 15km is an easy target for the Yamatos superior gun arcs.

I sent you a friend request on Discord so that we can fill a platoon of low tier stuff. I'm only up to 5 so far, but I'm chasing like 8 trees at the moment, although I'm getting pretty close to 6 on the IJN and USN cruiser trees.

After a week back in the game, aiming is now less a thought process and more an instinct. I still have issues with really speedy destroyers and high-angle (45°+ from perpendicular to the reticle) shots, but I'm getting pretty good at critting broadsiding cruisers with my own cruiser guns. The Furutaka has been especially good in rewarding proper fire control and shot placement, it seems like it can really punch above it's weight if you can stay angled while baiting out the broadside. I think it might be my first keeper.

In other words, the captain is unique to the ship, so you'll be grinding out functional points in t8+ matches. That is pretty much the only downside to purchasing that ship. It is a good ship otherwise with a definite bent towards anti-dd work.

Boy I had a game last night in my Pheonix that we could have won if I had been not total poo poo at hitting destroyers. It was me (with literally 10 hp) and a carrier versus a Clemson. I had at least 8 salvos that missed entirely. The clemson ended up killing both of us. It was tough because I had to stay at max range since I couldn't take even one hit. On my scope I was well past the 15 mark and was still behind him. This was all thanks to eating three carrier torps early in the game that weren't even meant for me

Edit: Also yeah, we can totally division up. I'll look for you next time. I the New York so we can run up to tier 5.

I wouldn't feel too bad about that. The Phoenix (and the Omaha) are not built for hitting DDs at range. They have such a high shell trajectory, and the shells are so slow, that hitting anything fast is more a matter of luck than skill.

Clemson at full speed is 35 knots, so you need to be aiming at 150% of your TTi. With Engine Boost on, he'd bump up to around 37-38, which is getting close to double TTI. The Pheonix has rainbow arcs, so the most important part of the shell's journey is the last few seconds... so yeah, its mostly a hail-mary trying to hit a DD at that range if he's maneuvering well.

It's kinda funny because I actually feel the opposite; after so much Cleveland and ships with US 5-inch, the Omaha shells are lightning fast and I haven't had too much trouble hitting DDs with them for the most part.

Of course you'll have to futz with it based on the ship's speed and course changing. Shells that move slower are thrown off more by changes in speed than faster shells.

This is great. Thanks!

This also doesn't come as much of a shock. I've been eyeballing it pretty successfully and generally figured I could go with the listed TTi for battleships. But once I got the New York and started engaging things at 15+km and every cruiser is moving at destroyer speeds my accuracy went to poo poo and this is a helpful little tip.

You know, this video made me think of something:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gojoczbWiF0

Why is it that the iowa class battleships have such a presence to draw crowds readily like that. Even in a cultural way via movies and books, the iowas show up readily even though they never really did much. Meanwhile ships like the midway, ranger, etc don't get much mention other than as a passing. Sometimes (incorrectly) claiming the carriers were in escort of the battleship. I sometimes wonder if another battleship sized ship will ever be launched by the navy. Be it a railgun platform or one hilariously sized missile cruiser. Or perhaps another attempt at a ship like Ise using harriers instead while still packing some 16inch guns for shore bombardment.

Also cool to see a classic schooner in use there as well.
