A slow death is cool since that means we will have a year of cultists slowly waking up as everything around them crumbles. In the end there will just be B'tak and Cymelion imagining dreams forever inside their own minds.

Spatial posted:But CIG don't spend any money on marketing, which is why their development budget is all 140 million of their income. Also they're so efficient that it's the equivalent of having 4x = 560 million because there's no publisher/marketing overhead. Remember Chris said this directly. Instead of backloading all the marketing in one lump they have integrated it into the whole process... And they spent more on the integrated marketing than if they did it all at the end... And then they will have to do a marketing lump at the end too anyway... Twice. No, several times more because SQ42 is in episodes.

Everything they have produced so far is marketing though. The ship sales (most of the concepts clearly were made just to be sold and are being shoehorned into the game), the shows, the brochures, the commercials, the demos.... Obviously that not all of what they are doing but its the meat and potatoes of their operation.

The true believers are going to think everything is fine and the game will come out as promised "eventually", up until two weeks after CIG closes up shop. Those two weeks will be spent denying CIG is shuttered.

For anyone who doesn't get it, Star Citizen is so broken at the conceptual level that the motherfucking Zybourne Clock is a more thought out premise, and is starting to look like a more worthy recipient of $142M. Think of all the Wikis you could start with that kind of dough.
