I know T5's a shitshow now, but I'm assuming burning the gently caress out of people in a Bogatyr is still viable.

I almost feel like I'm cheating when I take my Clemson or Isokaze out right now. I've been killing multiple destroyers in succession with torpedo spreads at distances of >3km if you can believe it. Clueless BB drivers have nothing on the current crop of low tier DDs.

It's an invisible torpedo rear end in a top hat that gets slower loading torps than the wakatake, and a loadout with its two launchers spread on the sides, which is awkward as hell, but they have .5 km longer range and more damage. It's good at getting some beefy long range torp slams and has a bit better ability to alpha out an enemy ship in close if you can actually get both sides' launchers off in reasonably quick succession. It can't keep up with the sheer annihilation power of the ships that can't invisitorp, but that's the tradeoff. It's got decent enough guns, basically a wickes except it loses that awkwardly placed rear turret. The Derzki can outshoot it pretty severely but that twin rear gun layout and Russian long turn time mitigate that. Tier 3 destroyer mobility is pretty samey. It outranges the Wickes and Derzki, the latter by a decent margin, but spots the Derzki a decent chunk of HP.

Flamu didn't like it but I think it's gotten buffed since he made that video or something because the torps are now the same speed, and the front turret can turn 360 which makes for some effective fire when retreating because you don't have to favor one side.

I think it's good, different and pretty well balanced. I recently really got it to click and have had some magical rounds, including a 100k damage game.

Shoot for the superstructure if they have a bunch, otherwise go with HE. I've racked up ungodly XP on US BBs by continually slamming the bridge with AP for over a thousand a salvo. Best thing is I can do it at max range.

Also worth noting that you may want to experiment with sonar, tight waters and torpedoes. It's funny.

I think its still pretty good. It's torpedoes are no joke at that tier and there are tons of BB and St Louis drivers who will gleefully run into them. The only real downside is only have 3 weak guns and its hard to finish off damaged ships.

Well, you could beg WG to give Farrugut the Mark 15s. Just have WG make them as reliable and powerful in-game as they were in real life in 1938. :v:

Interesting addendum to that, none of the US destroyers in the game are carrying actual standard Mark 15s. All the ones with that Mark are carrying some mod. ?? version or another.

Amusingly, attempting to dodge them would be more dangerous than just ignoring them. Angled hits with them tended to be more reliable at working. It was the dead on, 90 degree hits that were completely worthless.

Realistic matches where reloading torps from a limited stockpile would require reduced maneuvering or calm seas. Ideally crews wouldn't have been jockeying and shoving gigantic boomsticks full of flammable fuel and questionably sensitive high explosives into multiple confined spaces repeatedly while listing 25 degrees in a high speed turn. That sounds like the epitome of a Bad Idea (tm).

They actually changed this a while back. Servers were selectable by default; you didn't need to change the xml file. Seems like the change to login1/login2.worldofwarships.com has locked accounts to the last used server, or perhaps the region in which the account was created. Not shooting someone on gently caress-all health is always stupid, no matter how bad your guns are. Still doesn't mean the pre-T7 Japanese destroyer guns aren't terrible, and if people had to grind through the previous tiers with them, you'd never see tier 7+ ships.

I like the Warspite a ton, even with the glacial turret traverse, the guns themselves are just so incredibly good, and the extremely good maneuverability makes up for the slow turrets in part. These days you see T8 games super often in T6 BBs though which is sadness.

I feel like last night sucked for all of us.

I only have one upgrade on the Omaha: The B class hull. So, the range on my main batteries is like 11.5 k. In most of my games last night, I couldn't get in range to even attempt to shoot someone. While I'm getting great matchmaking most of the time, most teams are like 80% battleships right now with no carriers. So, I can't even provide useful AA cover.

I feel like I did a pretty decent job overall of dodging around and behind cover to wait until ships came into range to shoot, but it's pretty frustrating to be within range of most of the ships that I'm facing for like 3 or 4 kilometers before I can even shoot at them.

A pubbie teammate somehow shot me from his New York last night before ramming me straight into a torpedo that I would have easily dodged otherwise. I was so tempted to just put a spread of torps into his broadside, but I restrained myself. Whoever said to look out for blues was correct. Also, that same pubbie turned away from a fight that we would have easily won had he engaged. He later beached himself and died horribly. I had long since died and was just kinda watching the game like :stonk:

I want to say the absolute worst pubbies overall I've been seeing lately are those in US destroyers, and I don't know why. Yes, you get bad players in all classes, but this is the class I'm consistently seeing them absolutely refusing to play to their strengths to help the team. Not providing smoke support, not screening out enemy destroyers, not contesting caps... the list goes on.

I mean, we're talking about poo poo like a Fletcher and a Gearing refusing to enter and contest a cap against 2 Kageros that were completely unsupported by their team. Or just flat out refusing to screen out and kill IJN destroyers in general, despite significant support behind them, forcing said supporting cruisers and battleships to try and force the enemy destroyers out of caps themselves. Or smoking a fair distance in front of multiple battleships and cruisers, then running away - leaving the larger ships to just get shot at with no ability to retaliate, since the enemy's destroyers didn't run away and were spotting.

Assuming I'm a Iowa going against say a Yamato, what shell has more chances of citadeling me ?

Shell 1 would pen bow armor and retain maximum energy to pen the inner front plate at a bad angle (doesn't matter if overmatching).
Shell 2 would pen bow armor then be slowed more but would come to the front plate at an optimal angle.

Trip report: Went out in a division with Thronde today largely in T7 Battleships, and had buckets of fun. Every Nurnburg that came near us ended up as a set of fireworks. Pubbie RNG was in force, but with steady aim and a teammate to rely on it went pretty well. One match could be charitably described on our end as watching our team play bumper boats with 3-4 ship pileups occurring amidst constant collisions of two ships, but the other side somehow managed to out-blunder our guys. And out-blunder me, due to the fact that I parallel parked my Nagato against an island for several minutes. It took a lot of work on the enemy's end to lose. Having someone reliable along with is just an amazing breath of fresh air in this game, and really helps with player RNG. I need to division more.

Lost Dunkerque's one main turret for the first time by Fuso at about 6 km. You do lose 50% of firepower (unlike real life Dunkerque which apparently had its turret split into two as I read somewhere?), but at that range you can penetrate a Fuso with remaining 4 shells anyway. Ended up ramming him instead though :D

Dunkerque is an interesting ship to play in its own right. It's not Scharnhorst that can brawl easily at close range, but its forward mounted 13 inch 2 X 4 guns means that you can spit out quite a bit of firepower regardless of range. You can easily play both aggressively and passively depending on the situation.

I generally go for AA range. Sure, your AA isn't great, but you have no real replacement for Defensive Fire like cruiser for all the other nations, so you might as well cover the widest area you can. And it's not like your HE really needs the fire chance boost.
