Yeah there's valid complaints to be made about the show, but that isn't one of them.

Honestly I liked the first two episodes. It looks great and I really like that the main character seems to be broken as gently caress. Should be interesting to see where it goes.

I think it would basically be perfect for me if
a) Fix lighting
b) Fix jumpcuts
c) Give some more time to slow scenes and characters doing things

c) may be just me. It feels like the new Trek movies. Everything is alright, but it's basically an action movie. We see too little of the characters just doing stuff instead of running around. But seeing people in their normal work or living environment (instead of constant running-around crisis mode) and in "normal conflicts" is what is good about a TV series. Within reason of course. But it makes for familiarity and depth - some of Picard's strongest moments come both in times of important decisions and during the mundane.

They had Asian Captain decide kamakazi'ing herself was the only available option, so I don't think you have to worry about Star Trek being politically correct or worried about social justice.

Zero if they give a poo poo about canon. Official first contact with Ferengi happened on TNG.

Wry and wise,
but also very sexual.

I liked seeing the starfleet insignia on things again, and the fact that they're tackling a really important moment in Starfleet history by taking a really narrow angle. I loved the negotiation with the computer in the brig. I'm glad that The Orville is turning out to be a pretty great Star Trek so that Disco doesn't have to be.

I'm really impressed by how pretty okay STD was. Random thoughts:

Nice starship porn.

Traveling 2000km twice in less than 20 minutes bugged me. That suit must have some amazing inertial dampeners to handle that kind of acceleration and deceleration.

The booby trap corpse was some high grade slimy terrorist dirty tricks, and I fully approve.

Dat exploding console, startrek.gif

The ending was the antithesis of episodic. Lol at her ending up on the exact same ship though, was wondering what was gonna happen with that nice bridge set.

The klingon look was... okay. The outfits were okay, but the makeup felt overdone, and that giant rear end bridge with burning torches and dozens of people just milling about was dumb being inspired by speeches was dumb. Listening to them very slowly mumble their way through a made up gibberish language ruined every klingon scene and served no purpose. Their flagship was pretty dumb overall. Way too much superfluous spiney bits on it, but attaching the corpses to the hull was pretty :black101: It would have been 10 times better as a brand new race though.

It's probably sad that my favorite part was acknowledging that space is 3d with no constant up or down. The accretion disk of the binary stars aren't aligned. The bridge is on the bottom of the saucer and Michael is magnetically standing upside before flying off, and best of all, ships aren't always automatically aligned to the same plane!

I'm really hoping we get a chance to see artificial gravity on ships aligned in different directions. They hinted at this with Michael coming out of the airlock standing up when she's upside down relative to the rest of the ship.

I was expecting utter garbage and it's definitely not that, I'm actually looking forward to more. There is absolutely no reason why this couldn't have taken place after Voyager with a new race of not-klingons though, other than a desperate need to cling to recognizable things and characters, and siblings of characters. That would have solved almost every complaint I had.

Was pre-TOS all out war with the klingons a pre-established thing?

Considering the difference between old Klingons and Discovery Klingons, I cannot imagine what Discovery Ferengi would look like. You can be sure they have magical hooked penises that human woman can't get enough of though, just like Gene originally wanted.

This was discussed a few months ago. The base version has ads, the paid version has... less ads.

Edit: I guess that's not entirely true. There's $5.99/month with ads, or $9.99/month without ads. Both options offer live feeds in addition to their content library though, and the live feed obviously still has ads.

This is what I thought as well. I just looked it up and Rod Roddenberry is an EP along with his production studio being co producer so I'm sure they had the rights. Maybe they'll have a computer upgrade episode or something.

So a Klingon crash lands on Earth and a farmer shoots him. Enterprise has to safely transport him back to Kronos for care.

Later, Tripp accidentally gets pregnant and this reclusive alien race glomps onto a Klingon bird of prey. This is the race that got him pregnant. The Klingons were going to kill them but the story of the pregnant man makes them laugh so much they let bygones be bygones and let the aliens go in exchange for holodeck technology. The aliens transfer the pregnancy.

Later still, Enterprise discovers a disabled bird of prey on a gravity field and rescues them against their protestations.

Later, Archer and T'pol teach some frontiersmen basic self defense and use A-team tactics to save their colony from rogue Klingon raiders.

Later, Klingon warriors kidnap an ancestor of Soong to try and create Klingon augments. Enterprise had to deal with them and some escaped augments. Archer goes to the prison from Star Trek 6 and escapes with the help of a Klingon scientist. A crazy Klingon makes the augmentation a virus, Archer managed to limit who is exposed, but a large group of Klingons are and become more human in appearance as a result. That's the last time they show up on Enterprise.
