Oh, this school used to be another school. So the whole "school closing down" business actually happened before the series started. That's an interesting take, and a neat way of getting the whole "school closing down" plot away from the story. I assume the "school closing down" plot won't happen in Superstar because you can't have a school close down twice in the same anime.

I think we'll get like 1 character joining per episode, so we can have the full group halfway through the season. If we only have 5 members, it doesn't make sense to drag things out with needless drama and waste time on them doing things as a non-group.
