A significant proportion of Ontario's teachers are now in a legal strike position but have not yet gone on strike because the government always wins the optics of a teacher strike. Our supposedly progressive government is trying to bait them into striking so that they lose the PR battle and the government can impose a worse contract on them afterwards. Canada's Texas just elected a social democratic party to a majority government. In other news, Hell has frozen over.

Somebody just shared this quote from Chairman Mao: quote:We stand for active ideological struggle because it is the weapon for ensuring unity within the Party and the revolutionary organizations in the interest of our fight. Every Communist and revolutionary should take up this weapon. ...yeah, sounds like a liberal hero

Americans have gone to great lengths to completely erase any historical or political meaning the word 'liberal' had in the rest of the world to replace it with 'dirty pinko hippie'

e: sorry should probably have more than just an emoticon, but that was my immediate reaction. A meticulously detailed, lovingly rendered drawing of a couple of feet and a ball with a label on it, in a cartoon utterly devoid of wit and without anything of value to say except for a trite decades-old criticism of the "welfare state". Can there any better synopsis of the Michael Ramirez oeuvre? colonel_korn fucked around with this message at 00:50 on May 7, 2015 |

I'm not black, but I was on food assistance for a little while between jobs and I remember how I felt like some worthless slave receiving an entire $200 per month on which to feed myself instead of, I don't know, hunting for game with my US flag-colored AR-15 I guess. On the other hand, I live in Kansas. How am I supposed to get my federally mandated welfare dinners of lobster and shrimp in the woods? Your move, Ramirez!

Sooo. . .I was browsing Imgur because I have nothing better to do and I like the cute animals they post. This had apparently made its way to the front page a previous day, and I hadn't remembered seeing it here. Either way it's a terrible horrible racist cartoon by an artist I do not recognize. I don't know if that TIMG would be enough, so if anyone requests I'll put it behind a link. It's got a lot of gross racism and pretty much is a 'Those feral urban thugs are coming for us whites!' Those lips though.

Muir is literally just like some little kid pulling random numbers and poo poo out of his rear end. Mostly poo poo.
