Japan comes from a different painting tradition with different technologies. None of those countries are gonna know how to do any of that poo poo without the cultural exchange of painting techniques and styles during the Renaissance. The US is the most ridiculous inclusion. poo poo like chiaroscuro, the use of oil paint, perspective - the US didn't invent that technology. It wasn't even there when it happened, it just inherited it. Japanese painters were just as good at them once some of their artists started adopting those techniques. And of course, stylistic differences don't make a painting bad.

This is a lovely meme photo, but it's actually a real point of contention even among the American black community. Nobody really uses "____-American" for any other group unless they're an immigrant, and there's debates about whether "African-American" ties their identities to their former enslavers or if it was created to make them feel like they belonged in the United States. And obviously the term is completely useless for describing any black people who aren't American or emigrated from Jamaica and don't necessarily feel a kinship with Africa.

I agree, it did sound a little sketchy when the Clintons invented the concept of giving preferential treatment to your children. Is it just me, or is the concept of "liberals and democrats are all rich and using their money to exploit the impoverished unfunded republicans" gaining some traction? It's not even remotely true, but it's still worrying if enough people believe it...
