ya see Morty these tropes are boring and predictable to anyone who has grown up with them, r-r-replacing any sense of wonder or joy with *burp* the lovely ego-stroking exercise of explaining them to other people you know that episode this whole stupid tie-in is based on, Morty where the big joke is the Incident Rick is obsessing about, that he needs his time machine for, isn't to go back and change anything about his life or circumstances, it's to get ahold of a lovely McDonald's tie-in he remembered fondly y'see it's funny both because the trope is that the Incident goes unchanged, 'how else would I be the man I am today,' etc, etc, and because you the audie- uh, Rick, Rick, I meant Rick- given the power to change anything would just go back and consume one of the like three things you can't still consume today. this stupid poo poo makes the joke simultaneously a million times funnier and a million times more depressing
