If you weren't aware, they're a couple. Song worked well though, though I could have used a little less camera shaking in the MV itself.

Too many good releases for anyone to crush the charts from what I can tell (I'm not the best at actually looking this stuff up, tbqh), though these all have been doing well this week.

Dawn's last comeback had multiple references to their relationship. I haven't heard much of her previous stuff yet, but even I could figure out who "Bubble Pop Senorita" was.

NCT 127 finally teasing their new album with a song that sounds more 127 than Dream. Excited. Went through all the older NCT stuff I hadn't listened to yet back in August, just in time for them to start teasing this one. That 2018 Empathy album has quickly become one of my favorite k-pop albums.

The number of new tracks on this is still plenty but it's very funny that they put 6 instrumentals on there

https://twitter.com/ITZYofficial/status/1435981331746353157?s=20

secret number performed both title tracks, some b sides and dita sang some Indonesian songs on shopee's live stream, been almost a year since the last comeback and they didn't hint at anything coming soon in their interview so I have no idea what's going on with them.

😡 that sucks I really liked both tracks from them so far

Also we’re getting two Itzy MVs, don’t know if that’s been said yet. And I’m cool with all the instrumentals, Kpop is one of the few genres where I actually bother listening to them.

She mentioned she told Teddy she wanted a lot of Thai influence in her solo and he delivered. That Ice Cream bridge really faked me out too.

I don't know why he used that slow beat in the verses and chorus. One or the other would keep it from being repetitive. Speaking of repetitive, the name call out works well in the chorus but they didn't have to have her do it so much in the bridge and that kinda kills my favorite part of the track musically. In fact, if the whole track had that sound and energy it'd be my favorite BP song hands down. The traditional thai melody and instruments over the horns and trap beat is so good.

Lalisa isn't bad imo, but all I can think of is Hwasa's MAMA 2018 stage thanks to the sample in it.

Worth posting the other Lisa track as well I guess, it's pretty terrible but I guess this kind of hip hop must play really well to someone that doesn't listen to anything other than hip hop that's in the top 10 or something. They should just get the people that make the good korean hip hop to make a song for Lisa.

I like hearing her vocals in that one part but yeah,

Lyricist: Vince
Composer: 24
Composer: Bekuh BOOM
Composer: R.Tee
Composer: Vince

4 composers make that track is hilarious and the lyrics are lowest common denominator tiktok/soundcloud crap and way below what she should have gotten.

Yeah, this Lisa solo is boooooooooring. The bridge is kinda fun, but everything just feels so... flat and uninspiring.

But I guess that's par for the course for like 90% of Teddy's output the last few years. Man seems to be suffering burnout, despite only producing a max of 8 tracks a year since 2018. Either that or he just doesn't give af anymore, and just churns out things on autopilot via The Formula.

Yea I wasn't sure what to expect, but the biggest thing is the energy just doesn't feel there for me. The video tries its best for damned sure, and there are some interesting moments, but 'forgettable' feels the most accurate descriptor here. Like everyone is saying, she's able to do so much more than this.

Also someone mentioned the lyrics so I went back and payed attention and gently caress they're so bad. Like I don't expect super amazing lyrics from music in general and pop in specific, but c'mon.

Pixy, Secret Number, and Tri.be are the newish groups I'd like to see gain some traction.

Speaking of,

https://twitter.com/official_pixy/status/1435951822305304580

two MVs (looks like a prerelease ballad). That's a lot of music for a debut year too, this company seems solid.

Yea those are the three I'm wanting to see get more success, though tri.be I think did decently with their first 2 songs and they've got a head start by being a shinsadong tiger + le produced group (ie free press and easier in-roads with some of that stuff, similar to stayc and bep). They also have been pushing out a good amount of non-music content. They've got some sort of licensing/management deal with universal so I'd guess they've got secure funding for music+promotion+etc for X number of comebacks or whatever.

Secret number I don't know a ton about but I think their last track did pretty well? Though I guess that was last november, drat. I don't know anything about their company but I think they're pretty small. Of these three they're the ones I feel most in danger of basically being on the "release when company financials allow not when it'd be optimal for the group/song" cycle.

I know pixy's being produced by the company's in-house production team, which is overall a good sign I think. It gives them more consistency sound wise, but also more motivation for the company to put out more music when they do releases. I'd imagine its cheaper than buying up songs, but also lets their production team show off and build up a catalog. The prerelease is some sort of fan song I think, but looking at the tracklist they have two songs listed as (title) <Songname> so I'd expect at least to see them promote 2 songs again.

https://twitter.com/official_pixy/status/1436253664457289728

So 4 songs, an intro track, 2 english versions, and 2 instrumental versions.

Secret Numbers agency got massively screwed by the pandemic. Having the first Indonesian idol should have been a money fountain if they toured there, and should have led to ad shoots over there as well. Instead they just got a lot of news stories about her in Indonesian media, the mv's trending at no.1 on Indonesian youtube for weeks but no huge money making opportunity out of it. Quite literally the worst possible time to launch a group that only has 1 korean born member.

They already had a team attempt Oh My Girl's Fifth Season in the first mission, they are pulling no punches. They also threw some curveballs for vocal position songs and dance songs to really mess with them, like Mafia (in the morning) for vocal eval lmao. But they can rearrange the vocal songs this mission, at least, so there's a bit more leeway.

There are some absolutely A+ vocalists on the show, though. But not IU or Taeyeon (another vocal group song) tier.

Loving this, very catchy, downright sultry. One of my favorite rap sections I've heard from them, it really suits the more restrained sound of the song compared to all their other singles.
