Has anyone played CVs in the latest patch yet? Everyone is saying the changes to XP and credits really hosed over CVs hard and I want to know how true it is.

I even helped cap the base and wasn't too far away from Clear Sky, plus two of the ships I sank were DDs. I was running Premium Account and +100% First Win bonus. Total joke.

Yes it really does feel like XP across the board is down, but more so for CVs. I don't think I'm cynical enough to blame any malice on WG's part, yet. I'm hoping they tweak the numbers up a bit in a later patch.

So this is my first time trying out Ranked, and it seems to be Bayerns all the way down so far. Are there any boats I should absolutely avoid bringing? I brought an Ognevoi once and this one dude bitched at me the entire time for not rushing across open sea to torp a group of 3 Bayerns and how only an idiot would bring an Ognevoi to ranked. Am I the idiot?

The Cleveland is the most well armored of the CAs here, but due to its citadel being changed, its not quite as hardy as before. Still a good choice if you see CVs in queue. There's a rule against CVs on opposing teams to collude, like saying "lets not kill each other's planes or bomb each other" (you can be banned, its definitely reportable via ticket). There is NO rule against allied CVs cooperating, that's utter madness. Allied CVs SHOULD be planning their strikes together to minimize the amount of damage their planes take and efficiently defend with fighters, though that's a crapshoot with pubbies.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I was doing in the Ognevoi. Though I suppose I would have better luck in my Farragut. I brought my Dunk once, but it gets hammered hard by the Bayerns and New Mexicos. Considered the Cleveland, but I never seem to do well in it ever. Thanks for the tips!

Say what you want about the state of Ranked, but multiple Biskos and Derpitzes getting into a brawl is some great stuff from the visuals alone. Rule #1 in Ranked: Never do anything for your team ! Why ? Because any advantage you give to the team, will be pissed away by shitlords. I just tanked 1.5 mill damage and drew away almost all the fire of the other team, only for our BBs to run back and hide.

On the other hand, if your teammates were good, you likely wouldn't get 150K damage and a bunch of awards because your team would steal all the kills/damage

The worst the team does the more likely you will score better if you are lucky or skilled. A good team means damage and cap xp gets spread out more between the players so less for you because you had less impact on the game. High scores are more of an indicator that your team sucked than anything else.

The St. Louis is considerably worse after the armor fix. They can and possibly will get dunked on by BB AP, and you can't really not turn broadside.

I've had a few cases of cruiser players contributing decisively to games in both T6 and T8 ranked. Mostly from torpedo ambushes, radar and Kutuzov using smoke, though. Though there was an Atago who defended a vital capture point by taking the enemy Derpitz looking to cap it on a magical chase around the map while slowly murdering him with HE over ten minutes.Heartcatch posted:You do not. Hooked and baited me. Not buying premium time right now though, that's why I played for a month straight last time.
