Is that bundle worth paying the $15 for the whole package?

Fanatical also has a spooky bundle:

Is it worthwhile? I know it’s only like $3.50 but I’m not gonna get it if all the games are trash.

I didn't play DreadOut personally, but it looked pretty alright when I watched it on Youtube. The Void is from the people that made Pathologic, and it's definitely weird and moody with some neat designs. You might want to grab one of the fan patches for difficulty though if you end up getting it and from what I played of it it's not particularly scary. More like a weird adventure game slash gardening sim.

The Void is pure art, Necrovision is a decent B-grade shooter and Dread-Out is a solid and occasionally surprisingly creepy Fatal Frame clone. Keepers of the Dark is a Dread-Out boss rush mode, basically. Charnel House I don't know, but it looks like a solid classic adventure game. I'm certainly grabbing that bundle myself now that you pointed it out.

I'm very curious about that Charnel House game/trilogy. I like the constrained view of being within a train, and it sort of reminds me, for some reason, of The Last Door. No idea why.

Maid of Sker is getting less enjoyable as I play it but it’s still good enough to continue. I feel like it’s a short game though so if it goes like 5 more hours and my fun continues to drop I’ll probably stop playing

Think I just might skip the new amnesia? The ancient middle eastern tomb atmosphere didn't really catch my eye and from what I've heard the story elements were kind of a misfire. Anything special enough for me to go back on this?

Not a horror game, but when Serious Sam 4 came out a few weeks ago, they did the exact opposite: Immediately after release, the download for the game was just the executable, not the other ~37 GB of actual game data. It took them about 40 minutes to correct the issue, but that almost seems like a harder mistake to make, overlooking the entire loving game.

A sker is a small island (or islet). Specifically one that is very rocky and as such rarely inhabitable. A sker that is largely below the ocean's surface is called a blindsker and is the doom of any ship that unwittingly tries to sail across it.

Pretty sure you're fibbing. The name Skarsgård comes from the 19th and early 20th century European trend (particularly in Germany and the Austro-Hungarian Empires) of "dueling scars", wherein participants would wear specially designed guards to protect the most vulnerable parts of their face while they tried to inflict injuries upon each other that would develop into distinct--but seen as very handsome--facial scars.

If anything, Blackout Club has a really interesting "enhanced horror" mechanic where the various gods of the world (the devs) can communicate in character with the players and manipulate the current game.

I've been playing Phasmophobia and probably kinda burning out on that game soon but has anyone else had trouble with getting the drat ghost to actually appear? Like so you can get a picture or just see something happen? I've had plenty of rounds that involve just standing in a room and saying stuff for what feels like forever while they just knock objects over or occasionally hiss in your ear but never show up. Sometimes even attack. A lot. But not just... Appear so you can see them.

The Blackout club isn't really horror, being chased by the invisible thing is "kinda creepy" the first time it happens but its more like a stranger things "what's going on in this town" investigative game than a spook game.

I still liked it. The enhanced horror mechanic is cool too.

I've had it where the ghost was bugged out in the floor so only the arm was visible. It couldn't do anything, it just happens sometimes.

Most of the non-hunt appearances I've had were just brief flashes, so unless someone is already looking that way, pictures are tricky. Sometimes a ghost will manifest long enough to take a few steps, but that's been pretty rare.

...and then there's stuff like this. Probably my least favorite part of this game is trying to separate the intentional mechanics from the jank, because we've had all kinds of problems with ghosts and evidence that just don't make sense.

On the plus side, you can heal at will with the press of a button, so there is at least one thing about it which is much less annoying than the typical survival horror game.

Well, real matches do burn kind of quickly. On the other hand, real matches also come like thirty to a box, not one per box, so I all they would've had to do was to be realistic both ways instead of only one of them.

Yeah it's pretty bad using the in-game weapons. Or the spells, really, since they're a pain to equip and use. And the second character requires good timing in order to get her second hit in too.

It doesnt really matter because the game doesn’t let you run out of matches for long anyway

I found some old titty photos in a French foreign legion guard shack so Amnesia’s looking up!

There's a reason you get night sight, sometimes the game expects you to have no matches and forge on regardless, sometimes you won't need them at all and there's more than one mechanic for reducing your fear.

Things could be going better

For people starting up the new amnesia, I advise you to push through the first part of it where there are unskippable flashbacks every six paces, they drop off sharply after the first couple areas. Fractional continues the MoP tradition of treating players like morons by holding your head and screaming "THEY LIKED EACH OTHER DO YOU GET IT" for the first couple scenes, but it does get spookier.
