People seem a lot more bitter nowadays. I haven't played in a year or so, and have been trying out some heroes outside of my normal playstyle (Kerrigan, Valeera, basically melee assassins) and been getting a lot of poo poo for it.

Also a shitton more ESL players; is there a unified Western Hemisphere server now or something?

HA! HA! NICE! WHAT A TOOL!
You're picking the flex spot that doesnt fill any of the hard requirements that a team of strangers needs to function consistently (tank, support, solo, ranged dps) and people are getting annoyed? Wonder why?

If you step outside of your normal playstyle into tank and support I expect people would be more accommodating.

The issue is that hots has problems with its design and there's only so much fun to be had per team comp, and kerrigan and valeera hog more than their fair share.

The bigger problem at hand is people have basic knowledge of team compositions and tier lists and when you deviate from those you'll be looked upon negatively until you prove extremely valuable.

What people don't understand is below diamond team composition isn't a main deciding factor as each team makes so many mistakes throughout the course of a game.

At the same time though, unless you are much better at Valeera and Kerrigan than other characters who fill their role better, there's not much reason to pick them in ranked except for niche situations.

I always kinda roll my eyes when people pick Valeera or Nova because they tend to spend the entire game playing for numbers instead of objectives, and then whine about how the team is losing despite them 'carrying'.

Oh in QM? QM was made for Valeera and Kerrigan. Flame them back!!!

The only big trap when playing kerri is that her 4 talent "fury of the swarm" is mandatory and changes how the hero plays entirely - she becomes a very effective macro hero and can take bruisers quickly. Also Q build in general is a trap.

The kerri build is generally:
Block/Blades
Fury of the swarm*
Bladed Momentum
Maelstrom (I go ultralisk, dont be me)
Double Strike
Aggressive Defense/Essence for Essence (i've started favoring e4e recently)
Psionic shift if you feel responsible, nexus blades if you don't

I tend to not get flamed with this build because your macro is so useful in QM.

Is Whitemane busted or balanced? Friend was complaining about how she doesn't seem to have anything great in her kit and I honestly don't know enough about her to say.

I think still busted? There's nothing special in her kit but her numbers are too high, like a certain space marine and a certain space goat. Maybe she's closer to balanced though now idk.

How are you supposed to be playing Whitemane to get the real good numbers? I can reliably get moderately high healing numbers but for a damage-dealing support I’m finding it hard to keep my damage numbers up.

I play Whitemane like the greatest healbot that ever botted heals.

Level 1: Clemency. The Cooldown Reduction is aces and being able to pull an Emergency Heal out of nowhere is super handy. It also directly synergizes with...
Level 4: High Inquisitor. Clemency's healbeam triggers this, meaning that if you're lacking enemies you can fart out a beam on an ally to get all of your Mana back.
Level 7: Zealous Spirit or Intercession. Depends on if we need even more healing or Unstoppable.
Level 10: Scarlet Aegis. Because MORE HEALING. Also armor.
Level 13: Self-Righteous. It basically ensures that you'll never need to heal yourself again, which is handy.
Level 16: Radiance. Once you hit 16, your standard order of operations will be to cast Desperate Plea on three people in rapid succession and then hit someone with Inquisition/Clemency. Alternately, Scarlet Aegis your team and then spam Desperate Plea on whoever needs it, followed up with Inquisition/Clemency.
Level 20: Scarlet Crusade or Subjugation. Depends on how valuable a team-wide Unstoppable is vs completely neutering someone's damage output.

It doesn't have the fancy crowd control that other builds do, but it's awfully hard to deal with just by virtue of putting out SO MUCH HEALING.

Once I got good with Whitemane I barely ever use clemency. It's a rare situational use talent where those certain situations its quite valuable. But 95% of the time I'm just casting Ws for days.

Clemency lets you top off your team between fights but other than that I dunno about it. Just rip and tear harder imo and you won’t have to top off your team because the other team will be dead.

Clemency is worth taking for the cooldown reduction alone, but being able to trigger high inquisitor when there isn't an enemy around is double plus good.

Yeah I think all this is correct. Especially when you get into the 20s on your Q stacks, because it's going to be really really hard to recover if you die.

My best play in HotS was when I was Medivh being chased by Genji after a lost fight. I was almost dead, like really really close. I threw up a portal with the other side behind him, popped through, Q >alt W > Q he died and I hearthed home.

I'm not really good at Medivh at all but I felt like a loving pro for a few seconds. Dead members of my team were watching and congratulated me.

Medivh is listed as a Specialist but surely his abilities make him a Support right?

Also if Probius and Medivhare 10k gold, are there ever sales on that price? I have 45k gold but no gems.

Medivh doesn't count as a support because he's only got his shield which isn't enough to match up in healing/damage prevention to someone like Malfurion. But he definitely skews towards a secondary supportish role similarly to Zarya and Tassadar.

Gold prices for heroes never go on sale. Only the Gem prices go on sale. Every once in a while an older hero gets a small permanent gold reduction but its not something you can count on and takes a very long time.

Sort by event. I wish this would not include "price drops" that are the 15k -> 10k after 2 weeks standard they do, but you can see that there have been 6 actual price drops in the past 20 months, and that they used to actually do these pretty regularly pre-2017.

The biggest problem with playing medivh is it often immediately tilts teammates regardless of how good you are or your draft order.

I had a game this week where someone was a medivh main with a line of green in his HL history all medivh. He's first pick, chooses medivh. Immediately 2nd pick is tilted, picks nova, afks whole game while typing slurs at people.

Obnoxious.

I hope you reported that sucker.

Also Medivh actually dishes out quite a lot of damage if done right, so he's a mix of Support and DPS imo. A typical case of a utility character with his own niche. Honestly, the term "Specialist" might actually fit him.

They gotta just get rid of all the classes and introduce a ranking system. It’s not like it matters in QM and in Hero League it would improve the draft. Have meters like CC, Durability, Damage, Sustain and have those meters fill up as you draft.

A lot of the current 'support's can if you play them right. Tassadar can put up absurd numbers as long as he has something to AA as an archon. It's not unheard of for Abathur players to lead in damage too. He's a support because he gives nice shields and portals the others can use, to say nothing of his scouting. Given that 'specialist' in it's current form means 'toxic split pusher' Medivh doesn't fit that at all.
