TheLightPurges posted:BBQ sauce if anything is the 'pleb' sauce. Some rednecks just basically went to publix and blended every sauce they saw together and smeared it on good meat. Ketchup has 52 carefully balanced herbs and spices that took decades to perfect. And BBQ just blends a bunch of other better sauces into a slurry. I'm sure this has already been covered but I doubt ketchup has more than 5 spices in it, bait taken.

Wizard Master posted:While we're on the topic, how long do you guys boil your steaks for? Generally if it's a thicker cut like a porterhouse I'll boil it for 5-10 minutes, then drain and finish it in a pan for a minute or two to get a good sear. Personally, I like to boil my milksteak for about 2 hours over hard.

When I worked in a restaurant as a sous chef it was policy to keep any lovely piece of meat that had fallen on the floor or whatever to cook to charcoal whenever someone wanted a steak well done. That restaurant very nearly got a Michelin star lol

Ideally the best steak is flavored with butter and garlic, and any condiment would diminish this.
