I think you could get the original Mini as the following: Austin 850 Rover Mini Austin Cooper Austin Mini Austin Partner Austin Seven Innocenti Mini Leyland Mini Morris 850 Morris Mascot Morris Mini Riley Elf Wolseley 1000 Wolseley Hornet

chrisgt posted:I have a [running] biturbo, how much worse could it be... I have no idea but the distance from the bellhousing mating surface to the opposite frame rail is roughly 17 inches, which isn't a whole lot for adapter plate, block, and front drive accessories. Even the stock engine is a pretty tight fit. I don't think it is much worse, aside from Justys being throwaway sub economy cars and biturbos being "rich people poo poo" so more likely to have sat around to provide spare parts than a Justy.

Bape Culture posted:Surely, SURELY we can find a fricken motor for a few hundred bucks and local boys can help swap it. This is a great way to learn how to wrench. Swapping a motor seems daunting but I tell every person that has never worked on a car the same thing: It's just nuts and bolts. If you can find a helper or two, watch a couple youtube videos and afford some tools and time, you can be a mechanic basically. Or at least a parts swapper. You can do it, OP!

I wish I had the time to help because you aren't even that far away. What are the 6th and 7th vin digits, 52 or 59? I'm guessing 52 unless it's an s60r? I see a few engines for like, 250 on carpart listed as running well, but I have no idea how much worse the transverse ones are to work on. I gotta say I was expecting the trans to explode on it first (aren't those the ones with the unreliable angle gear drive?) But yeah those cars are not particularly reliable. I know a guy looking to ditch a Volvo 940 from the early 00s that's... Allegedly more reliable? I don't think he's asking more than scrap price at this point. It was his GFs daily driver until it needed a new throttle body, he may even have the part but it needs to be coded to the ECU or something. He thought he was going to fix and sell it but it's been sitting years at this point and he hasn't touched it and has no interest in doing so because he makes more at his day job than he would loving with the car. If you might be interested I can talk to him about it. It's parked in New Braintree behind the hangar we have been using as a shared workshop for the last few years. If anyone wants to naysay this idea too, please do it right now, because I don't wanna sell kilonum on another lemon by accident and I don't know poo poo about Volvos made any time in the last 25 years.

If it needs a throttle body coded it’s definitely not a 940. I’ve owned 10+ Volvos, stay the gently caress away from most of them.

The last RWD Volvo was 98 and that was badged as an S90 or V90.

It's a '99 2.5 NA V70, as far as I can tell from looking at it in the dark and flailing around with a vin decoder chart last night.
