That, like all claims about “AI,” is bullshit. I’d guess it’s just better mini-LED stuff, apparently also Sony has a new backlight that’s 4000-ish nits.

I was just coming to post that transparent screens seem like they are going to be the next fad/gimmick. LG has the T series OLED now too that's transparent.

In regards to the transparent micro-LED screens, It's already been mentioned but having your windshield be a screen would be super useful for future navigation in vehicles, as well as open up ways to interact with your vehicle that currently don't exist. But besides that you could use it for home windows, having it as a layer and then put information on windows, bathroom mirrors, heck you could turn your larger windows into televisions and just get rid of the tv in your home altogether. Lots of cool opportunities for innovation that would be useful, and some that would not, but that's always the case. I think I am going to hold off on future OLED tv purchases until the micro-LED screens hit the $3k-$4k range. All the benefits and none of the downsides of OLED.

Then you get a stone chip that totals your car because a windshield now costs $10k to replace or your car’s computer freaks out and blanks out your view with an error screen leading to a crash. It’s a thing that always bugged me about sci-fi shows that use transparent monitors. It’s GREAT for filming because things look futuristic and you can see actor’s faces, but it’s a nightmare for actual usability.

Im also assuming youll be forced to use their media console for your fancy transparent tv since they have to put the internals into something so good luck trying to get the ideal viewing height or doing any sort of custom mounting

Ordered a LG C3 and I've never seen an OLED TV in person before, is there any good Youtube channels or playlists and so on that has demos with good HDR content I can watch and make myself feel good about my purchase? Any movies that are must see in OLED?

Both are in 4k and look amazing; Coco for the colours in general and the bit in 'Shiny' in Moana where the lights go out and there's only bioluminescence is probably the best advertisement for how amazing blacks are on an OLED screen I've seen.

It’s not everybody’s flavor but The Fall of the House of Usher on Netflix has probably the best HDR I’ve ever seen on a TV show. They don’t just grade the screen to mud in dark scenes and the color is top notch.

Bell_ posted:Yeah, if the projected HUD in my Honda stopped working, I'd still be able to see out the windshield. AndroidPlay, on the other hand, lags behind, and I'd hate to have something like that dominate the windshield on a bad day. It looks like to make the screen non-transparent, there's a physical sheet of something that has to move up and down inside. Without that, I don't think it's possible to actually block your vision. I guess the whole screen could go bright-white when driving at night or something.

I mean just go on YouTube and search 'hdr', there's hundreds of videos out there. 'over the moon' on Netflix is the (kids) movie which has impressed me the most on my s92c. There's a lot of black backgrounds + extremely bright neon foreground stuff going on, and it looks amazing.
