Leaks were already occurring regularly, the special prosecutor could very well be fired, and yes Comey's testimony is more trustworthy than Trump but everyone knew that already. Of course it wasn't a good move and was terrible from a PR perspective, but I'm not sure there were any serious consequences from it. I guess we'll see what happens if he fires Mueller and whether Congress decides to appoint an independent prosecutor or not.

Trump thought that being President meant that all the bad stuff happens to other people, not him. He probably believed that Obama was able to get away with being not being "American" and being bought out by Soros and thought, "well poo poo, if he can do it then I can do whatever." Trump believes that he is supposed to be able to get away with this poo poo.

One of my many theories is that instead of a stated quid pro quo, they came across the complicated financial backing of the Trump organizations, as well as Kushner etc. If Kushner is given financing by a Russian state bank for his overextended investments, is that not in effect a gift? This might be what they are sifting through, as well as sifting through shell corporations and the like.

If Kushner was given financing for his overextended investments, it might constitute a gift... for Kushner. I don't think the Enoulments Clause applies to him. Although it would make Trump bad by proxy.

Like, does Kushner even have an official job in the federal government? I thought he was just some kind of unofficial "senior adviser" to Trump.
