Very disappointing, imo. The sound mixing on the first half was really weird. I really liked Tree of Life, God's Reign, Kendrick's Interlude, Closure and Just Have Fun, then the one with Danny Brown on it. But I doubt I will be listening to the rest of it much more by choice.

Feel like this is something really tailor made for getting stoned to and just listening. Will reserve compete judgement until then.

Curren$y is quite possibly my favourite rapper the moment, maybe up against Gibbs? Anyway, here are his new videos.

http://youtu.be/B1NTMCD0wcs

That should link to a playlist, but I'm not a hundred percent sure if it'll work on from my phone.

I've never got that much into Ab-Soul either, he has a few nice features but mostly he annoys me. Didn't even realise he had an album coming out.

TDE should just put out posse albums, apart from MAYBE kendrick, none of the dudes can do a full album. don't get me wrong, I love soul and Q but they only have a couple good songs on each release.

Habits and Contradictions was solid all the way through. The real question is why have they not made an incredible Jay Rock album yet. That dude made "Hood Gone Love It," which is so drat good.

Oxymoron wasn't a classic or anything, but it didn't really have any duds either, and it had a couple nice bangers as well.

Goodness no, now that wouldn't do at all!

So in following my recent trend of discussing "niggas saying actual real sentences and not random grunts, squawks, and yelps" rap, Open Mike Eagle had a new album out and it's really good. It's likely gonna end up in my best-of for this year (although tbh this year's been kinda weak, especially in comparison to last year which was like whoa). It's definitely in the vein of similar projects from the last year or so (Dour Candy comes immediately to mind). Unlike a lot of other similar stuff though this is way way less aggressive, some of the production is downright dreamy and surreal. Dude's delivery is quite monotone usually which I think helps what he's doing since a lot of the bitter/sarcastic stuff just gets kinda slipped in there and comes off more observational than just outright preaching and griping like some struggle rap poo poo.

And not to reopen that whole discussion, but this is basically the "good" version of donglover's album. Does a lot of the same things thematically, only about 10x better.

I posted an Open Mike Eagle video many months ago, and in it he has some rhyme schemes involving Goldeneye and Cobra Kai, which pretty much makes him the best rapper alive currently.

EDIT: The song is called "Qualifiers", and is featured on the new album.

I will need to check this and the new Sadistik album. Billy Woods comparisons are always nice (although I liked HWAM and Race Music more than Dour Candy).

Has anyone got a link for the Black Silk mixtape that Spooky Black put out a while ago? His bandcamp site doesn't work anymore.

Edit: While I'm on the topic, is there a working copy of Wayne's The Drought Is Over 2? None of the copies I can find are full.
