I can't even see what's wrong with its front paws? Just looks like a culturally appropriating cat who enjoys walking upright

He looks like he doesn't give a gently caress and is continuing to do all of the normal cat things such as sitting in boxes and pouncing on stationary objects. I'd have to agree this is more of a happy story

Yeah, it's some genetic disorder where their front legs turn into more like little T-Rex arms. Mostly, if treated well, the cats with that seem to live pretty normal lives. Problem is because it's a "cute" disorder, I believe some psychopaths have tried actively breeding cats with the defect.

Blue Footed Booby posted:Given how long it takes for animals with disabilities to be adopted I'm not sure I believe this. Depends on the disability. There are people who specifically go deformed or maimed dogs and cats if there's otherwise no extra care involved. Like shelter workers will tell you if you want a cat to get adopted, cut one of its legs off.

Someone in YOSPOS has a shelter-adopted Munchkin whose mother was a feral Munchkin, so it can work? My understanding is that they're less restricted in their speed/jumping than you'd think and have good quality of life overall.

Otteration posted:Ugh., loving ugh. Just to be clear, my comment was shelter workers being a little callous about how quickly people will go for certain kinds of disabled pets because they stand out more. No one was actually hurting or recommending hurting animals. Personally, I think the mentality behind going to a shelter and getting the three-legged cat is very different from specifically breeding debilitating deformities in the hopes that someone will pay a lot of money for a raptor cat.
