Yeah, it’s from Xtro. I remember that gif floating around for ages. When the Xtro episode of BoTW came out years later, my immediate thought was, “oh poo poo that’s the movie that creepy gif is from”

that creepy gif isn't even the weirdest part of that sequence of the movie. Xtro is a strange, strange beast. Don't watch the sequels.

Just finished binging this thread, here are some things I didn't see shred that I thought I'd contribute Found footage horror short https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08rj_ioKNSo I found this while searching for a different video, one by Channel 20 or something that does some weird PSAs. That one was a first-person video, this is not, but still good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVnIGANil_I Since this is the images thread, here's one of my favorite creepy artists, Laurie Lipton (http://www.laurielipton.com/). Her work has incredible detail and I first saw here stuff in an exhibit somewhere. I always forget her name so I have to search "creepy pencil art skeletons" and I hope Google can help.

When I was a kid I had a nightmare where the entirety of the nightmare was that there was a big black mountain bike in my bathroom, next to the bathtub, positioned in a way that didn't make spatial sense. I woke up screaming and have no idea why.

My favourite Laurie Lipton, that I can't find on her website, is the one of a group of people with really happy smiling faces standing at a dinner table, only one of them has a horrible terrified expression, and there's a knife stuck in the table. I think that's one of hers anyway. Can anyone dig it up?

I love Laurie Lipton, and it's always a treat to go back over her work now and then. Someone in either this thread, or one of its previous incarnations, summed up her work as the perfect spin on Norman Rockwell-styled Americana. I think that's accurate. Someone on YouTube has collected together 100 "scary" British PSAs, ranging from the 1970s right through to the early 2010s. I have a warped pleasure in watching stuff like this; we sure have had some weird ways of telling people not to do stuff, and some of it has a weird nostalgia value. The uploader has some info and warnings for each clip, which is handy as one of them (#29, in the second part) is effectively just a screamer. I love the Local 58 videos. My one problem however is for whatever reason, they're keyed into the youtube algorithm to start suggesting all those weird "kids" procedural generated cg videos like finger family and whatever bizarre stuff that makes me feel like I really, really don't want to be part of the human race.
|
# ? May 14, 2018 03:40 |
|
Worse: The obvious answer is that they're totally keyed into the algorithm, so they pop in while kids are watching finger families.

I dunno if this is really the right thread, but I noticed this just earlier and was kinda creeped out. I've got a phone wallpaper that orbits a simulated earth and uses real-time data for clouds. I go to my launcher and see this: Is it just me, or does anyone else see a face in shadow on the night side, and a figure with a blade in a reverse grip on the day side? ... It's just me, isn't it?
