I detest a lot of the focus you see on BOTCHES and stuff like that. Sure there are some stuff that take you out of a match but you get some people that analyse matches for every minor slip-up and are like BOTCH even if everyone involved reacts to it as well as you can. Its funny since a lot of the people that do it are your Cornette types who do the GYMNASTICS line about AEW but then they seem to be the ones that judge pro wrestling like gymnastics; while if this was a real fight then there would be moves that would look ugly and that people would mess up on sometimes like real fighters sometimes do in a real fight.

Basically botches are only a real problem with me if: --Someone gets injured --It ruins the planned finish --It's blatantly kayfabe-breaking (like if someone whiffs a clothesline and the other person still sells it, or they try to repeat a hosed-up spot instead of just moving on) Otherwise, who cares? Like half the poo poo these nerds point out is stuff I don't even notice when watching live.

Unless someone gets injured or punished for it, botches are unfortunate but unimportant at worst and fuckin hilarious at best. We wouldn't have the Cody gently caress on me story without botching, and I don't want to live in that world.

Botchamania is good because it has an energy of "it happens to everybody, let's have a laugh at it." There's no malice, it's almost a celebration of the unscripted, unpredictable nature of wrestling. Accounts like that one are bad and honestly pretty loving pathetic because they're literally the exact opposite of Botchamania in pretty much every way. Including the part where Botchamania is popular and well-liked and good.

I don't really care about botches but wrestlers who can work around them or even incorporate them into the match really impress me. Asuka/VENY is usually really good at quickly improvising around botches.

There was a great moment in that Sasha/Asuka match from last year where Sasha went up top for the Meteora, but slipped on the ropes and fell flat on her rear end. Instead of getting back up and trying it again (which would be stupid and make Asuka look like a geek for just lying there the whole time) Sasha immediately started selling her knee and they made that part of the match story. It was some great on-the-fly improv you almost never see in a WWE ring (mostly because the house style actively discourages it).
