I saw it earlier last week and it still held up. Now it's out of theaters.

I just saw it in a theater so it's not completely gone.

Well, it is here. I think the giant megaplex still has it, but the local theaters dropped it.

It's still playing in all the AMCs in Los Angeles too, I was actually just talking with my buddy about going to see it again this week and got spooked when I saw that post.

Seriously though, I was actually surprised how much Alien Covenant owned. I think Ridley Scott making an Alien movie is the only time I'll sit by for that much rapey imagery and enjoy it.

This place and be pretty goddamn stupid some times about their poo poo, but there isn't a lot of traditional fanboys here. On the AvP Galaxy site, and other nerd sites, they get reaaaaallly mad about who created the Alien and all the 'lore' poo poo, and that it isn't Cameron's Aliens and all that boring done to death poo poo. Some people have legit complaints, and ones that I share too. The pacing is iffy at times, the final 20 minutes is kind of lame...but I just don't give a poo poo about Alien lore. And those who do suck.

K. Waste posted:Veiled Aristocrats is a god drat masterpiece. 1932 is a solid year for movies. I've seen the first three, Boop for Pres, and... Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (it was technically premiered on Dec. 31, 1931, but actual release on Jan. 2, 1932) One Hour with You Vampyr Horse Feathers Movie Crazy (best Harold Lloyd talkie by far) Pack Up Your Troubles (my favorite Laurel & Hardy feature) The Old Dark House The Mummy The Blue Light (Leni Riefenstahl's directorial debut is amazing) Island of Lost Souls Trouble in Paradise Minnie the Moocher (Betty Boop short) Seven of those all from the same studio. Paramount and Warner Bros. were putting out consistently amazing stuff through the 30s.

Starting this Thursday they're showing a poo poo load of movies in 70mm at the Egyptian in Los Angeles, some of these prints haven't been screened in 20 years. Thursday is The Dark Crystal, followed by Tron, the Thing, E.T., Poltergeist, and a couple others. It's gonna be dope.

Sir Kodiak posted:I did enjoy that spoilered bit more than I would have expected going in. Ip Man is a solid place to start, but it's primarily a love-letter to Wing Chung as the ultimate martial art. The fights are great, but if you're looking for more contemporary action and mixed martial arts, check out Flash Point. His entry into the Black Mask series, Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen Has some really great action sequences as well, and is basically a Bruce Lee tribute.
