I would say 2.5 to 3 times the hull without insurance. An A grade fsd is about 150m alone?

Fojar38 posted:Thanks to the community goal campaign I'm fairly deep into Anaconda range as far as my total credits are concerned. How much money should I have before I start to seriously consider buying one? My current rule is "double the cost of the hull for the sake of upgrades and insurance." Is that too much or too little? Depending on how you want to outfit it, you can spend more on a power plant than the hull itself. The sale value on my conda is 333M (mostly A rated but D rate thrusters) and the rebuy is roughly 14M. Use coriolis to price out what you want in terms of modules, then figure in a 10% discount because you're going to buy it from a Lui Yong controlled system . Personally, I won't fly a ship that I don't have at least 5x the insurance rebuy cost in the bank. When I first bought my conda hull it sat in storage for about 2 weeks because I pulled the trigger on buying the hull without enough to outfit it to my liking.

I'm going to gently caress it all off soon I think and go do some combat / fun / sightseeing stuff for a bit.

So apparently there's an issue where the material reward listed on a mission the first time you view it (or maybe every time I dunno) is wrong because after taking a mission I realized it was giving me different rewards (it was showing cracked industrial firmware and then gave me other poo poo I didn't need and wasn't promised upon mission completion and when I checked the other missions they all had different rewards listed so I dumped all the missions that didn't have cargo and delivered the cargo for the one mission I had that I was carrying said cargo for). Guess I need to run datalink scans (I started doing that and then noticed a couple missions that offered what I wanted...but it was apparently a bug or I'm sure a feature if you ask the official forums). I also had my first rebuy screen in a long rear end time because I made a stupid mistake with my Asp and flew over a settlement that I'd pissed off after taking fire and they started shooting missiles at me after my shields went down. Lost maybe 600,000cr in exploration data I'd been sitting on to give to an Engineer (had a shitload I gave to Palin to rank up to 5 so I didn't have much left fortunately). I pour out a bit of my drink of the good ship Tentative Name.

Another weird glitch I've noticed: Planetary Colony ports, because they only produce biowaste, hydrogen, and scrap, will usually have the mission board generate a bunch of missions to whatever Agricultural stations are close by. If you have a decent size cargo hold you can stack a cool million worth of missions for maybe 4 minutes of flying. Also leads to hilarious NPC interdictions where they literally try to steal your poo poo.

Baby starts to build a combat a ship How to spend time and credits for nothing I have a trader/courier Python which I have modified extensively. I cruise around in it and have fun. It also kills small and medium ships. I also have a modified Clipper, a lightly modded Courier and a Vulture that has been gathering dust in some remote CG system. Recently I have felt the urge of getting into murder. I want to slaughter and hunt wanted ships and bounty hunt and maybe even get involved in some light PvP asshattery. But what sort of ship should I get - a cheap Viper, a pirate Cobra or something else? I finally decided to grab my Vulture, A-rate it and give it some good weapons. I fly the Vulture and Courier to Harm and spend a non-insignificant sum of money for respeccing them and the Clipper. Clipper becomes some sort of pirate vessel, Courier seems to become a generalist errand fighter but the Vulture becomes a pure murderboat. With twin Plasma Accelerators. This is a mistake. The plasma accelerators inflate the Vulture's biggest issue, which is power management. A-rated thrusters alone are a bad thing, but throw a SCB and some boosters on it and the entire thing just shuts down the moment you pull the trigger. It's also suprisingly slow. I take my Clipper, sail to Merope and transfer my annoying boats in there. Then I fly back and forth because stupid rear end Palin and other engineers argh. I give both fighters a G5 thruster updates too because why not? Then I fly to Sirius, transfer the ships there, and give both Overcharged power plants (G4) as well as some power distribution stuff. Now, Vulture can actually support two PAs with just FDS Interdictor and the useless cargo hatch shutting down. I have now spent something like 3 hours and approximately 3 million credits for simply waiting my ships to be transferred. But I have it! I have a twin PA combat build Vulture! It's expensive as poo poo and took FOREVER to get to even be able to shoot! It cannot do anything but kill and interdict! So I take it to a rez. It's a pain in the rear end. I cannot hit the targets with trailing lead indicator at all. I change the indicator to leading and that seems to help me a bit. What helps me more is to realize that Plasma Vulture can 1) only consistently hit things which are right in front of it and 2) suffers when facing a Cobra or other really fast craft. Also, PAs require extreme distributor control, have a glacial rate of fire, and reload costs are large. But when you hit something with dual plasmas, it goes boom, and Pythons cannot really shake me at all. I feel like I'm cheesing the game for little or no gain. The RoF is so bad I keep missing kill windows because the things are recharging. I'm wondering if 2xBurst, 1xPulse+1xPA, 2xRail or even 2xCannon would be good. Strength in PvP is a bonus.

Doing surface prospecting for the first time in a long while for engineering materials. Luckily I've had good luck finding plenty of what I need all in an hour or so. It does make me wish the SRV had a sick spoiler, a 6-speed manual, and a codriver to complete the rally feel. "Caution: Rocks" would take on a whole new meaning.

My experience says ~2M in data will get you allied...somewhere in my post history I wrote down how much it takes to rank 5 an engineer with explo data, but it's probably easier with mats now that you don't need commodities. Not sure how far out you went, but these days payouts are worth ~1.5M/1kly with casual scanning (honk, grab WWs and rando HMC/MR that might be terraformable), so your trip may be worth more than you think!

When I did it after they buffed exploration payouts it took 6m of data to get to allied. 10m got me to rank 4 with Palin and partway to rank 5 so you need somewhere around 12-15m to get an engineer to rank 5.

Bafflingly, they are still offering to sell the base game separately from Horizons for people who want half a game, but there will be a Commander's edition which puts them both together (along with a paint pack and a pre-order bonus gold Sidewinder skin). Also, a Legendary edition on physical disk which is E:D, Horizons, and 1,000 Frontier Points which is the real money currency used to buy things like ship kits from the Frontier website.
