Yeah, Fallout 4 was (at least for myself) disappointing in a few ways, but it still shipped and sold well. I think the reliance on settlement building was probably a real problem considering how buggy as gently caress it was, but it's certainly not a clusterfuck of the likes that Star Citizen will be on release.

The laughable part of this simple laser beam mechanic is this is the ship that has the expandable container system to hold the ore. They struggle with toilets and doors, imagine how this will turn out.

Do it the same way they do everything else. Three containers.

Empty.
Half Full.
Full.

Swap out as needed. Just like the pilot becomes one with HIS ship (so glad SC doesn't make me worry about the right gender) or severs, so does the ore bay do the same.

EDIT: Wanted to add - Don't worry about the lack of animation. The backers will delude themselves as to anything BUT complete animation being utter impossibility, so they will be SURE they saw it move.

I honestly don't think it could be sold to a developer at this point.

Just for discussion let's say EA bought it. How could they turn a profit? They'd have to somehow make back the money they spent buying it, then finishing development. And they wouldn't be able to make people who already own packages re-buy anything.

I would think CIG's whale "list" might be worth some money, but I just don't see anyone wanting to touch this failure with a 10 foot pole.

No one will touch this with a ten foot pole except maybe some social media/mobile game development outfit who will then proceed to poo poo on all backers dreams and turn out some turd that requires you to use your Facebook account to login.

It has been there a while. It was first seen in one of the large ships.

There was even a shitizen who made some good business selling copies of them for 50 bucks or so.

lol, Are they asking for ID photos now for refunds?

Maybe, it's cause it has reached the point that they have to go through their our-community-is-great fake/ boring videos to remove segments with the filthy leavers.

Or they are cross-checking if it's really some employee of theirs who is backing out of the game.

Apparently they are. I think Uncle Derek is checking to see if this is legal.

I do know that sometimes companies cite Anti Money Laundering considerations as a reason to required ID verification (in the UK at least), but as long as someone wants the money returned to the same account from where the payment was made, this isn't a valid justification.

If I had some money in SC that I wanted refunding and they asked for ID, I'd refuse out of principal. If they told me they couldn't refund me without ID, I'd contact Trading Standards/the Citizens' Advice Bureau/The Financial Conduct Authority/my local MP/the Press etc.

In addition, there are necessary subsystems and support systems that need to be designed and implemented for mining to have any contextual meaning.

- Player inventory
- Ship inventory (cargo)
- A persistent market economy
- Trade mechanics
- Metals and minerals
- Refining
- Crafting

Without any such systems in the game, what would "mining" possibly be? Point your laser at an asteroid and push a button? Where is that stuff gonna go? What is it used for? True Believers think that the mining ship is Step 1, and all the other stuff is layered on afterward, but it's actually quite the opposite.

Unless your entire goal as a company is based on selling ships. In that case this is the perfect way to go about it. CIG's method of generating income is diametrically opposed to the correct way to design a successful game. The irony is annihilating.

It's a shame CIG didn't find a way to monetize design documents or a functioning game engine.

Mining also tie with the "ultra detailled" ship repair system they promised. Your choice of minerals affecting ship repair quality.

It's not legal. That's why banks, Amazon, Microsoft etc, don't go that far when you ask for a refund.

In fact, the FTC has some strict guidelines about that sort of thing; and there is an entire list of companies they've gone after and fined for obtaining user personal info without cause or reason - and not disclosing the reason to the person.

A backer, Hater115, posted a Blizzard link showing they ask for ID. Of course it's not the same thing, because their use is for hacked accounts.
