No, Jim Ratcliffe, the head of Ineos and former richest man in Britain (he moved to Monaco last year, funnily enough), is also pro-brexit. Also the Wetherspoons guy.

What happens if the Queen dies before parliament can decide to revoke A50? When the Queen is dead the parliament mace loses its powers until a new monarch is crowned?

I dunno I think this is actually legit. Dyson moving it's Corporate office to Singapore isn't anything to do with Brexit and is just blatant tax haven bullshit.

The new monarch has power immediately. There is a reason the expression is "the king is dead, long live the king"

Though IIRC talking about succession or future coronations is technically illegal.

this is definitely one of those laws that, if ever enforced, will cause Charles to lose his ability to cover for paedophile relatives or force the NHS to practice homeopathy

I’m pretty seriously concerned about the wellbeing of my British friends come springtime. April will surely be the cruelest month.

It’s been a car crash in slow motion over the past couple of years, sure, but now it’s really getting to be crunch time, and there’s not much of that slow motion sequence left.

Some of you are still joking about it and keeping a stiff upper lip, while others are preparing for something like the siege of Sarajevo. I think one severe problem at hand is that almost everyone in the U.K. who didn’t live through the blitz on some level fundamentally believes that they, as a Brit, are not ever going to be subject to the famines and crises which are experienced by other countries.

Food shortages? In my Britain? It’s more likely than you think.

Please take care of yourselves, Britgoons.

NI goons staying safe. We already have illicit supply chains bringing potats, banans and tomats across the EU hard border no matter how effective the UK's proposed blockchain-based border security system turns out to be.

I think it's more a reference to education. I mean it's not wrong is it? Education level did play a pretty large part in how the vote split. We can get precious about the political consciousness of the modern British working class, or lack of, but we're surely not going to defend ignorance?

The difference is a Tory sneers while a leftist should be like "oh dear everyone is loving dumb, better improve access to education".

I'm sensitive about it because my highest qualification is from secondary school and yet I own more books than I have shelf space for. I've been to the homes of people who worked in Gregg's at people with PhDs and I've yet to go into a place of residence without some books.

Yes, there's a direct correlation between education level and...progressiveness I guess you could say, but that often means liberalism rather than socialism and while we share some social concerns obviously liberals are much closer to conservation economically. "That tragic and intractable phenomenon which we watch with horror on the other side of the Atlantic but which there is interwoven with the history and existence of the States itself, is coming upon us here by our own volition and our own neglect. Indeed, it has all but come. In numerical terms, it will be of American proportions long before the end of the century. Only resolute and urgent action will avert it even now. Whether there will be the public will to demand and obtain that action, I do not know. All I know is that to see, and not to speak, would be the great betrayal."
