I'm in Bulverde/Spring Branch though, which is super red.. There's been a lot of growth around here, but not enough to offset. Not for probably 6 or 8 more years.

It's hard to weigh the gratefulness of people for having their needs paid for by the government in a time of intense duress against the one surviving principle aside from racism and the weird death cult of personality that Republicans hold dear: People facing hard times must suffer. Like they justified the last package by calling it a "stimulus" under the pretense that they'd "get the economy started again" after barely stopping it and doing nothing about the underlying issue, and sweetened it by pissing out a bunch of money to the wealthy and big business, but still they're intensely uncomfortable about the idea of just helping people who need help.

If the best BBQ in the world was a 10 and every 10 required half day wait times while the next tier down in quality didn't require that wait --I'd take the 9 every time. Or just bulk order the 10 ahead of time and pick it up and eat with everyone at home.

Seems fine.

I always find it amazing that people state that Franklins is "the best". It's pretty good, don't get me wrong, but if you weren't sitting in line drinking the entire experience would flat out suck and as others have said, there is really good BBQ that's only a minor drive out of town. The thing I love about going out to Lockhart is you can hit up multiple spots to get, so, much, bbq. Smitty's as you walk in and right next to their open-air pits, it'll be hard to pass up on much but do not pass up on their beef ribs and if you plan on hitting multiples, I wouldn't really bother with their brisket; it's good, don't get me wrong. Kreuz Market has the brisket on lock, their pork ribs are also done really well. They don't believe in sauce, so it's all on the meat. Black's after all the family drama has really lost a notch, if you want Black's just go over on Guad if they're still there and it'll be pretty similar to what you'd expect in Lockhart.

Franklin's is in downtown Austin so all the tech bros and conventioneers hit that one up, also it was #1 on Texas Monthly's annual rankings for like 5 years. It's the one they've heard of. That's fine the real heads know where that good rear end barbecue is: Bill Millers

The fact that he started with property tax sanctions and ended up at annexation authority leads me to believe that's the most constitutional penalty they could devise. It doesn't matter, all this poo poo is gone on Nov. 4, especially if the House flips. The cities and local municipalities of Texas will be the biggest winners under a split Legislature, not just because they' won't pass local-killing tax policies, but also because conservative leadership will stop beating up on cities and start beating up on the criminal Democrat house. https://twitter.com/EngelsAngle/status/1304139380018352132 Sounds like a real serious proposal. Also, love that Bonnen, a dude who will be a private citizen in exactly 4 months, is there to comment on what the House will do next session. zoux fucked around with this message at 20:57 on Sep 10, 2020 |
