But seriously, I think it's important to recognize that many families break apart because of issues such as mental illness, addiction, and poverty, and that blaming those people for not staying together as the root cause of their children's future lives as criminals and crazies is missing the forest for the trees. I suppose shifting blame instead of working to alleviate those root problems and not the just the symptoms seems like a good view to take for some people.
