All I got was a box with a 250 marks of my choice & 50,000 dil, 3 boxes with a choice of spec point or tech upgrade, and some armor. Are you saying it was a choice between the 250 marks and the console? If so, that's stupid, and I missed it.

Console should have popped out of the box with the dil. What armor did you get?

Terran Guerilla Combat Armor, which looks like it comes from the event Peril over Pahvo. Never had it until I finished the current TFO.

You weren’t actually running the satellite console project, then - you must have spotted the Pahvo event ages ago and only just finished it. I’ve done the same thing.

Well poo poo. That sucks. I take it they switched stuff over at some point to a featured TFO that just carries your progress over (without it updating your rewards)? I still have the crystalline catastrophe at 40% and assumed they just made a new TFO event each time.

Yes, I know I'm old, get off my fucking lawn so I can yell at these clouds.

Just start the current event and toss a single voucher into it. With that done you can compete it at your leisure when the next event kicks off.

Well yeah, but promo ships still sell for around 3x the price of a lockbox ship and that’s a LOT of grinding.

Spencer worked it out a while ago: using the best method available (selling promo boxes for EC), a promo ship costs approximately $173. I don’t have the dil exchange open at the moment, but I’d be interested to see what that equates to in terms of grinding dil.

Regardless, it’s a hosed situation and an incredibly predatory move - particularly because lockboxes are a lot more in the spotlight than the last time Cryptic pulled this poo poo.

I have no idea what plastic model star trek ships in boxes from real stores cost but I'm guessing the price is comparable. Niche collector stuff is always expensive.

PWE/Cryptic has simply tapped into that market then also let folks buy 3D prints of their video game pixels for basically the same price again. Unless that since went away. Haven't been keeping track.

Why grow your market or attract a new crowd when you can simply refine that whale oil.

That's... disturbingly apt. You might get a basic kit off the shelf for thirty bucks, but if you're serious then aftermarket gribblies or high-end resin kits are going to increase your outlay significantly.

Seriously, how can you not know the context of Dixie? Even if the only place you know it from is the Dukes of Hazzard, it was the horn on the car literally named the "General Lee" and painted like the confederate flag? How could you possibly miss that?

I'm just confused about the relationship between Dixie (the song) and Baseball.

Oh baseball was once an extremely racist sport played by extremely racist players an watched by extremely racist fans, and over a century has morphed into a mostly-equal-opportunity exploitative entertainment business...

But I swear I never heard Dixie played at a ballgame. Not even in Texas. In the 80's.

Oh, also...

Dixie -> Dixle -> Dilxe -> Dilex -> DilEx

Ban the DilEx, it's spacist against space poors.

The new loading screen on Tribble reveals that while the Risian T6 vette doesn't come with pilot maneuvers, you can use a fleet ship module on it to upgrade it to a pilot version.

So I know what I'm flying forever now.

There was no way in hell that they were going to give away a special spec ship in a freebie, but the vette really cried out for maneuvers. This isn't too bad of a compromise, I think.

It’s an interesting mechanic - they could theoretically go back and give older event ships FSM upgrades to give them spec seating.

But yeah it'd make a lot of sense to at the very least offer the same pilot conversion for the Interceptor, the ship similarly is begging for it.

Alternatively: Free ship, just buy this upgrade from the z-store to unlock its true potential!

Get hosed, Cryptic.

And I say this as someone who hates escorts and wouldn't fly the t6 corvette even if it came with maneuvers.

You do get like 12 fleet ship modules just for maxing reps and the exchange is flooded with the drat things so as taxes go it's not that horrible.

I hope they make beams better*. There's no way a pilot maneuvers corvette will be usable with cannons.

Depending how you play it, maneuvers may make it easier to stay on target. But it's a bit of a waste of a spinning top.

Purchasing a ship is the one fleet asset that requires you to be in the fleet, yes. The fee is like 20,000 fleet credits which is nothing and a single fleet module which you can buy from the exchange or ideally just purchase from a T6 rep with marks. Dental and NoP both have a shitload of provisions and you can chime in in Gooneration for an invite and get kicked/leave when you're done if you don't want to be in the fleet for whatever reason.
