Big deal.

.773 is a real good winning percentage tho, so it would seem that having a player that can get alot of triple doubles for you would be "a big deal" and real valuable. Maybe even MOST valuable...

Also, 42 TDs but you already knew that.

I thought they didn't have the NBAPA awards last season because the first year was a huge disaster. Players not showing up, not giving out all the listed awards, etc. I looked it up and they did in fact give out awards, no idea if it was broadcast though. Anybody know?

They did but I don't think there was a big ceremony in 2016. In 2015 it was on BET but a lot of popular players didn't show up.

Another 50+ point triple double:

Wilt Chamberlain 2/13/63 51/29/11

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 1/19/75 50/15/11
Russell Westbrook 10/28/16 51/13/10
James Harden 12/31/16	53/16/17

Russell Westbrook 3/29/17 57/13/11

Six in NBA history prior to this year. Now five this season alone.

He's still not even halfway to Kobe's mark. I don't know if he's built up enough chucking goodwill and karma to pull off 15,000 career FGX at this point.

Right now this season he's sitting on 1,109 FGX. He trails only ABA PG Louie Dampier who had 1,121 FGX in 1970. Needs 13 more FGX.

Unless the Thunder's situation significantly changes he should be able to make much better progress from here on out than he did with Durant/Harden on the team

As a Michigan resident for two decades of my life I haven't really felt like the Pistons have been worthy of even casual fandom in like ten years. It's really sad how badly they have managed their team since the Billups/Hamilton/Wallaces era.

That Thunder game was hilarious because it was going absolutely miserable while Russ was obviously chasing the triple double and forcing the ball to awful garbage men like Kyle Singler, then when he finally got the TD they played way better.

All those guys in their prime would be a fun team. I can't read the name Gerald Wallace without thinking about how he was the only player that ever wanted to play his whole career/retire as a Bobcat and was traded away.

My gut instinct is that Russ is going to end up losing based on downballot positioning. I think most people who vote for Westbrook are going to give a second place vote to Harden, and I think you're going to see a decent segment of voters that have Harden/Kawhi in the top two slots (and maybe even Lebron third)

It looks like the last time the MVP didn't go to the person with the most first-place votes was 1990, though, so maybe the formula makes it hard for that outcome to actually happen
