All of the current Warcraft 3 maps will be able to be dropped into Reforged directly with zero adjustments, according to what Blizzard has said on the matter. Outside of custom models, whatever MOBA-esque games you enjoyed from the halcyon days of Warcraft 3 Custom Maps will essentially be updated for free with Reforged.

While I see your point and am also disgruntled about remaster culture, btu War3 absolutely needed one, concerning easier UI for modern hosting, mouse options and screen resolutions

Man, I think that was my most successful detail to date.

HOTS was cool and probably is still cool for many people, but many people were driven away by some of the narrower and broader changes blizz made to the gameplay.

Doto sucks but I've found enjoyment in the minigames that are created by the weird design idiosyncrasies that exist on doto.

In conclusions, mobas are a land of contrasts.

Lots of negativity and DOTERS 2 talk in this thread, played a quick match as specialist at night and the queue was 20 seconds or so. This was in EU, I guess USA is dead tho.

the late night HOTS queues are basically dead, but during the day i've been able to queue into matches at pretty good times if i'm playing warrior/healer or grouped with someone playing warrior/healer

really their biggest misstep was not adding the paladin to the game (also their biggest misstep in diablo 3 after the atrocious story, writing, skill system, auction house, etc etc etc).

They did loosen the matchmaking, maybe it has helped.

It's also being done by devs that aren't blizzard and care about quality so that already puts it above anything blizzard in the last few years.

The guy in charge was a modder who started the project with his own team, blizzard liked what he was doing and brought them on board, at least that's what it appeared like at blizzcon during the announcement.

I still have a heavily downvoted subreddit post about hots casual changes. Basically said that simplifying a game and then trying to push competitive was counter-intuitive. This was when they reworked stealth heroes. Just wanted to say gently caress you Blizz, I was right.

Also, Dota 2 turn times is loving terrible and is one of the reasons I'll never play it again. Heroes of Newerth had the right engine with the worst management. How the hell are you trying to play it off as tactical, my buddy's legs don't even work and he can turn faster in his wheelchair. This was his hilarious quote and I'll always re-use it.

Turn time is another one of those things that's so minor I genuinely forget it exists outside of like, Batrider games.

Not sure what your opinion has to do with Blizzard blowing money on frivolous things (like over produced esports and comics and an anime trailer for a game they hadn't actually sold people on yet) and not figuring out basic ways to make money off of the microtransactions they already had in the game, like letting people actually buy the things that they want, making more things that people might want, or pricing things competitively, both of which combined to draw the ire of Activision execs and shareholders.

I'd be willing to bet that not being able to directly buu the things you want was an Activision decision.

I loving love HotS and it is the best moba by far for me.

The only really aggravating issues are:

1. Queue times
2. The pricing

I played a ton when HotS first came out so I have most of the heroes I want. But it’s tough to get friends interested in the game when there’s such a steep cost of entry.

Of all the issues that people criticize (rightly so or not) about the game, I feel like most would be tolerated if the pricing model was friendlier.

“Simplifying” to you is “removing lovely mechanics” to everyone else. Complexity in of itself does not equal to a more competitive game. HotS is a way better competitive game, both to play and to watch, than Dota2.

By far the biggest 3 reasons hots struggled are:
1. An awful launch
2. Showing up to the genre late
3. Awful pricing

All the other complaints would be annoying but tolerated if the big three had been better

Didn't it take like a year for them to not only add the ranked system we have now, but a little longer to add bans to draft? There was very little reason for hardcore/high level players of older mobas to switch games when HotS didn't even have a mode they could play for several months. For the more casual players, HotS cost as much if not more to play than LoL and had way less content by that point. Johanna came out mere months after launch, and has been one of the more popular, successful tank characters in the game since then, and she has basically only gotten like 1 skin per year. Not to mention that pre 2.0, skins and mounts were noticeably more expense than heroes, despite being so few of everything to choose from. I remember not buying much until they did that big 50% off sale the first year (can't remember if Black Friday or Christmas sale.)

Oh yeah, that too. That was kind of a big one especially early on, I remember a lot of people being shocked at how bad reconnecting was. HotS just flat out had a mountain of poo poo stacked against it from launch.
