Suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

quote:

Thanksgiving will start coming twice a week at Newark Liberty International Airport as of next year, and it's nothing for fliers to be thankful for, according to a report out today.

Newark Liberty is one of five major airports nationwide that will begin experiencing Thanksgiving-like crowds at least two days a week starting next year, according to the U.S. Travel Association, an industry trade group based in Washington, D.C.
.....

Airport advocates and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates Newark Liberty, John F. Kennedy International and LaGuardia airports, have urged the FAA to alleviate crowding by accelerating local implementation of its new NextGen satellite-based air traffic control system and lifting hourly flight caps.

"Unless the FAA brings a real 21st Century air traffic control system to the busiest airport system in the country, congestion in the skies will keep getting worse," said Steve Sigmund, executive director of the Global Gatewaty Alliance, a group that has pushed for implementation of NextGen.

Proponents say NextGen would allow more flights and improve safety. However, the FAA, which imposes flight caps operational and safety reasons, relies on Congressional funding for the multi-phase, multi-billion-dollar system. The agency did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Guess that TSA PreCheck was worth the cost. Especially now with my project getting funded I'm looking at a week on the road every month for 6 months.

They've obviously had to step it up for the london finance boys so it amazes me how they skimp in places like SFO. And making moves like locking up the cocoa (which sent flyertalk through the roof lol) and moving to unwrapped cookies so you can't swipe the Milanos.

Missed the upgrade on the LHR-IAH but cleared for IAH-SEA, yeaaaah, I'm asking for my GPU back.

It should automatically redeposit. Dollars to donuts you have to call in, though.

In other GPU news, I just booked a last minute trip to CLT to acquire a place to live temporarily when we move in January so I'll be over 150K PQM and snag two extra GPUs and two RPUs. Even my wife will make Silver this year on it, for whatever that's worth (which isn't much).

I usually have to call but this morning I discovered it redeposited on its own. Good on MP for getting their poo poo together. I'm gonna use it on a up coming domestic anyhow because I have 3 that expire at the end of this year. I think you can call and beg for a max 2 gpu to be extended a few months. I'm going to need more GPUs this coming year.

Just booked my 3 trips to close out the year and it looks like I will hit 125,244 just squeaking in to get 2 more RPUS. Roll in my nonrev flying and I have 155,540 butt in seat this year.

Please tell me that's a schedule change and CO's UA's wonky UI code is displaying that? On the other hand, the E120 fleet is scheduled to exit soon and I have yet to get a segment on the type, so that might be fun.

It's a hitch for sure. I was actually sorry to hear they are retiring the emb120. I've had some great fights on those SEA -PDX on a clear day is magic with Rainer, st. Helens and Hood all in a row just beyond that chromed engine. I caught a flight SFO-MRY which was neat.

If they would offer me the 500mile minimums on segments everytime they stopped to refuel, I would totally do SAN-SEA on the emb120.

My original plan was to fly ALB-EWR-SNA. ALB-EWR got cancelled because of the snowstorm, so United automatically booked me on ALB-FLL(!)-SNA which had me staying in FLL overnight which is some bullshit. Called, got rebooked to ALB-ORD-SNA, missed my 40 min connection time because they were spraying the plane down with antifreeze for like an hour, sprinted to the desk and barely made the last seat on ORD-LAX to land on the same night. This is why I live in California :suicide:

I am going to have to mileage run either DM or AA Platinum this year. Not sure which one I will do and which one I will get naturally - have to see how my last couple weeks shake out. Next year I think it will be a stretch to get both again, so I will probably drop AA, but I'm just a few segments off so I'll bounce up and down the East Coast on USAir metal probably, maybe grab a PenAir flight for kicks.

I didn't fly as much as I wanted to, and I got split up on airlines I dont usually fly (drat you United). I'll be $500 short of Silver on Delta after my last trip of the year, and I'm sitting at 90% of the points needed for A list on Southwest.

Plans changed where I was set to be about 130K I'm now booked for the rest of the year with 124,572... My partner is contemplating sponsoring a run to push me over 125K so he can have the 2 regional upgrade certs. He came out at 22K and I talked him out of running for silver because who cares about silver accept for E+ at check in and he's small so, big deal.

I worked him out of a jam yesterday on the 1k line on his way back from thanksgiving. We had a discussion about compensation from MP in which I said it would depend on the whim of the agent and how much of an inconvenience they thought you suffered, cabin, and status. He got pissy with me about the latter because he "knew their was more than just E+". Yeah, they still don't care about silver and you better be 1K or GS to think you have a shot at something decent for a 3 hour delay on domestic travel and the reroute got you home 2hrs earlier than the original.
