there's good food on the strip but you have to be willing to pay for it if you're eating at a restaurant named after a guy famous for being on TV you're doing it wrong no matter where you are

You're confusing me. I'm no card counter but it's fairly simple to tell what's left based on what's already come out of the deck. Places like Bellagio have machines that reshuffle cards, Caesars Palace does not. The dealers there keep pulling cards until there are none left.

Hi op, I stayed at the Mandalay Bay for work. I ate a lot of good food in Vegas, but holy poo poo was it expensive, I would never pay that much if it was my own money. The casinos were gross and full of gross people. I lost like $50 gambling on slots and sports, but I was there for a week and work paid for everything else so I guess I came out ahead in the end. The only reason I would ever want to be there is the legality of sports gambling, other than that it seemed like a gross shithole. Thanks for listening!

Speaking of vegas food, I remember going to a strip giant rear end casino buffett and there was a constant feeding frenzy going on over king crab legs. They couldn't keep the poo poo stocked out on the line because people were killing each other and the victor taking giant piles of crab legs over and over again. It cracked me the hell up. Great dinner theater. But I still don't understand. You'd think people have never seen a crab leg before. But then why do they get so greedy for them?

Usually go for a week every year. It's a lot of fun. Just be sure to rent a car and explore off the strip. Pinball museum, atomic bomb museum, parks to hike in, dam, huge shopping malls, speed humps. The crab leg thing is usually once a week, and costs like $5 more than usual. So the entire reason anyone is eating that day is for the unlimited crab legs.

To quote King of The Hill: "This city should not exist. It is a monument to mans arrogance" THAT SAID, I go to Vegas at most once a year. If you drive through the desert from California in the morning and avoid the traffic its actually an enjoyable cruise. I just go for two nights and just go out the first night. Maybe some light gambling the second day (craps). I prefer staying on the strip but for walking around and drinking and being dumb I prefer Fremont. Its delightfully trashy and I love eating lovely chilidogs and pizza when I am hammered so it works well. Also the people watching on Fremont is spectacular. World class really. The only place I would recommend for a family would be Mandalay Bay since the pool is great. Also their monorail connects to Luxor and Excalibur for shows and other kid poo poo. That said, don't take your kids to Vegas what are you loving insane? Anyone that stays for more than 3 nights is also completely insane or has a legitimate gambling problem.

I've been about 8 times all said, strictly for fun. Often go alone but took a couple of people with me who loved it. Usually go for a week and just chill out and poke around farther and farther from the strip each time, though I love freemont and it's cheapness. Im all into gambling, boobs, and booze so it's a nice time for me. I've not gone in a while since moving from Virgina to Portland, OR since I can actually do all such things here now. Virginia is a unfun stupid state and no one should live there. Have spent a lot of time at the pinball museum mostly once I found out it existed. It's a great way to spend the afternoon while it's too hot outside and everyone (including me) is still hung over and such. Totally recommend it, cheap and good entertainment.

My favorite part of Las Vegas is the surrounding landscape. The desert is gorgeous and I forget where exactly but you can take a short drive into the mountains and find nice snowy ranges despite it being hot as gently caress elsewhere

If anyone goes to In-N-Out while they are in Vegas do NOT go to the one just west of the Strip with that big loving sign you can see from your hotel room. It's always loving packed to poo poo because all the tourists flock there because it's In-N-Out and its awesome and the staff never have time to clean the place during the day. Go to the one that's on the UNLV campus (need a cab or a car but its worth it) because it's never really that busy and you can get your fix.

Chinatown posted:drat thats a good deal Competition is fierce and off the strip you don't have everyone nodding and shaking hands and fixing prices. Palace Station out there has an okay but divey buffet that's like seven bucks for breakfast, on Sundays it's brunch and 11 but comes with unlimited mimosas. I told my waiter one time to just bring me one wherever he could and in the hour I was there I think I had eight -- dude wasn't loving around, I think I left a 20 for a tip and then got in my car and was like "It's 15 minutes to get home, hope I can get there before this all kicks in -- don't fail me breakfast meats" and I was away. There's place called Arizona Joes or something that has steak and eggs for 4 bucks (3 bucks?) plus bloody Mary's are a dollar

On Spring Mountain there's an all you can eat Korean place with the grills in the tables and the multiplicity of pickles for like 14 bucks a person, which is also really good food, which is called Tofu Hut, despite the fact that they don't sell any tofu that I'm aware of. There's always a 30 minute or so wait for a table. Across the street is a 24hr Vietnamese place that I saw the cast of Top Chef eating in (including the Viet girl) but I usually ate just medial to there in another Viet place that I think was called Little Saigon where the portions were bigger and the place had that brightly lit functional shophouse thing that I love in a Vietnamese restaurant
