In fairness to it, most people’s dreams are largely mundane, so it was just staying true to life for the most part. I wonder if they ever did an Inception porn parody.

It would be a more realistic execution of the premise then what we got

It should be an origin story (second renaissance in film form instead of anime) like the recent planets of apes films

Second Renaissance was profoundly disturbing to young me- can’t wait to watch it again tonight and get re traumatized lol

It’s legit the most interesting part of the story- the sky darkening thing is absolutely bone chilling

I gotta dig out the old DVD of Animatrix I've had since like 2005 and watch it again.

the parts I remember being the most disturbing were the humanoid robots getting torn up in the street by a lynch mob (did they rip her boob off? am I remembering that right?), and the early, crude manipulations of human brains

big loving mechanical thing stabbing into different parts of the brain and the guy going from extreme distress to hysterical laughter. gah

In one scene of a riot a crowd ripped an Android lady's clothes off before clubbing her in the head, it's disturbing as hell in an already disturbing and very believable sci fi portrayal of humans at their worst. It makes those scenes and the following fanatical toxic war scenes incredibly tense and uncomfortable to watch.

Hey, look. Look, if- if you screw me on this, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine, you rat bastard!
It will open at 3rd place at the box office, a bunch of Youtube videos will talk about how it ruined the brand, we'll get a lot of think pieces about how, "Ten reasons why the Matrix sequels are MUCH better than you think they were (and 5 reasons why you didn't notice at the time)" and it will lose $100M for whatever company is releasing it.

God, I was watching a few minutes of Reloaded and get what they're going for with some of the decisions they're making, but I think the fashion choices actually hurt the film in a lot of subtle ways. Neo's priest trenchcoat doesn't look good and I trying to CG that makes everything look worse in scenes with it.

the machines should have made the matrix a simulation of the middle ages. That way if anyone escaped they wouldn't even understand the concept of electricity and they will just think they are In hell or something.

Or maybe if the machines were retarded and didn't find a single digital history textbook, they could just ape Tron. If all they know is contemporary "history" and maybe a fair bit of internet and whatever, just have the hoomans play 2forts on repeat forever until they are too autistic to make it even if they managed to escape

Go home and be a family man!
So was the matrix a simulation of the whole world? Cuz I’m pretty sure people living in places where their drinking water is also their toilet aren’t going “yep this is the peak of civilization right here”

Also how do the machines handle people being born? Do they create people as women become pregnant? Do they have a stockpile of disconnected babies that they just hook up as needed?

They should do a Matrix that's like Grand Theft Auto where people and places don't appear until you go towards them and then occasionally poo poo just doesn't load right away so everything is all slippery and sometimes you fall through the ground.

Chris Carter kinda did that with the tv show Harsh Realm, people who lived inside the simulation would find and abuse glitches in the world's geometry.

The sequels kind of dumbed down the whole premise.

I heard talk that tne of the original premise was the robots were using people as organic non-linear CPUs, to process information their robot brains couldn't handle.

A complete reversal of the current relationship of machines with people.

It was dumbed down for general audiences.

They should make a movie where people believe they are in a futuristic VR simulation, but in the end it turns out it was taking place in the 17th century and the protagonist is rene descartes being tricked by a demon
