So my financial situation is figured out, I can afford to keep my dumb project and also get a supermoto. Now I just need to find a DRZ400SM for around $5k. The closer to southern Wisconsin the better.

Picking it up on Sunday for $650 canuckistani dollars. It's the same (well, different year, but who's counting) bike that I had as my very first, so I even get to re-use my old Hane's manual (and hopefully not my clutch basket removal tool).

race tires on road are a great idea, ask me!

If I ever brought an old bike like that I'd probably donate it to a museum anyway. I just can't imagine they'd be even remotely comfortable/fun to ride compared to modern bikes.

e: and more to the point if I crashed it I'd hate myself/possibly get lynch mobbed.

Hahahaha this person is insane. Powder coat that looks like a rattlecan job of primer? lovely exhaust and typical aftermarket parts? Better charge a $2000 premium over a new bike for one with 12000 miles on it!

I think the point is Z3n is a space cowboy on the edge of a frontier unknown to man, he's out there pushing the limits, trail braking into the abyss. Finding out where the edge of the razor is, turning to face the darkness and revving his 690 into it's vast gaze. You gotta live this to learn it bro.

Look, what a low HP/CC air cooled bike with a staggering 9.2 to 1 compression ratio made with modern coils in the last 5 years really needs is nology *pro file* coils. That's what was stopping all the raw power from flowing out of the engine and turning the rear wheel to smoke. Buyer beware.

1991 Kawasaki Tengai ( KLR ) - $2200 (West Seattle) posted:

Rare, hard to find Tengai in great shape for its age. This bike needs nothing, it is ready to ride. It was my daily commuter until recently, as I've bought a new KLR.

It not perfect, it's a rider, the body plastics have some scratches and cracks, but overall very clean for its age. No mechanical issues, very solid bike, tires have plenty of tread, chain within adjustment limit, brake pads good. just gas up and go. Miles are unknown, previous owner I purchased it from claimed he replaced the instrument cluster, what it does show is 77k kilometers, which is 48k miles. Have givi top case to go with it. Price is Firm, NO Trades, NO creative financing, NO test rides without cash.

I just picked up a 2006 TTR230 for a fix up / lady friend bike, aside from her KX85. The PO drove it into a 'puddle' and hydro-locked it 4 years ago and let it sit without draining it or getting it running. It's in awesome shape otherwise. Stock grips, unbent stock bars and levers, stock tires that still have life left on them. All told including fuel to pick it up, $650. Who thinks I can get away with only a set of rings and a few gaskets before it runs again?

Hydro locking probably did way more damage than just some rings.

Words of the :banjo: PO. Drove it into a puddle, flooded the engine, failed to do so and then parked it. I pulled the top end apart tonight and found the rings had rusted to the bore near TDC. Entire valvetrain is spotless, even on the seats, and still in spec for clearance. However, the aluminum / rubber encased intake boot had began to delaminate and the needle and seat in the carb are beyond saving. Parts will be on order tomorrow.

Buell blasts are lovely and the single cylinder really gives you a pounding so that part makes sense. Just a guy that didn't want to put in any more effort in the posting. Dunno about the price, would that make sense if its in the crate and not assembled? Either that or its just stolen from a cargo container.
