Ok when you said 2 per reload that didn't imply it's because you were letting the gun cool down during a prolonged engagement lol

No you can very much do 2 per reload if you burn it out, 3 if you are on the money with aiming. Spore planets make it problematic because you need to react or die

If you run slugger, dominator, or i guess counter sniper you can shoot bile spewers in the head. weirdly, the flamethrower kills them pretty fast but only if you don’t ADS.

Hey at least on hot planets I can move and shoot at full speed and not deal with deep snow or those stupid frost artichokes. There'd probably be more people playing Automatons if there were a more normal planet available, although Marfark is way nicer than Lesath.

I will laugh if we collectively fail to get anti-tank mines again. I think they are going to continue to have problems creating automaton major orders, the percentage of players who continue to only fight bugs during bot objectives is still sizeable. My money is that it will get much worse if/when the illuminates show up.

For awhile in HD1 (which didn't have GM-driven major orders), the prevailing strategy was 'fight the cyborgs, fight the bugs, then take a break for awhile because no-one likes fighting illuminates, let them take super earth and campaign reset'. While I don't necessarily think they will have the same problem in this game, I wouldn't rule it out

Not only is 2-3 possible without cooling, if your aim was literally perfect you could probably get like 6 per 'mag' without pausing to cool, 2-3 is already assuming imperfect human meatbag aim. Their heads really have very little HP, they're just small and mobile targets.

I also have a number next to my social tab, either a 1 or a 2 at all times, but I can never see anyone online or in game. I have one friend who is online and said they're trying to invite me, but I'm not seeing anything. I've validated files, I've made my profile and friends list public instead of private, and still no change. Not sure what is going on here, or if I'm all alone with this or if it's a known issue.

Edit: Nevermind, I reboot my pc and it magically fixed itself. The one thing I hate having fix a problem.

Edit: Maybe not, I can see others online now, but I can't see anyone in-game and vice versa. So I guess something is still wrong.

Plasma punisher is very fun right now, dilligence counter-sniper is good if you want something semi-auto, and honestly as boring as it sounds try the plain liberator again to mix things up, it's still a very solid gun that got even better with a damage buff

What's the mission type most likely to enrage your group? We just ended early after a particularly lovely geological survey where the last objective was an absolute meat grinder and two people in the group were like "ehh were done". We've definitely gotten the saltiest over that one I think.

I also got a little bored of the sickle just before switching over to the pre nerf eruptor. Haven't really commented on the eruptor here since the nerf and I feel like, especially with the ceo saying he could be happier with how balance is going, it'll probably get a small buff soonish. The Eruptor was definitely extremely strong and now it's moderately neutered. I've only seen three pubs run it and all three complained that it is currently unusable. I bet it'll get it's shrapnel back in some lesser form, probably addressing the ridiculous range it could have, and then that gun will be back in business.

For bugs I've been using the regular punisher and it has no problem chunking away everything under bile spewers. Nursery spewers and stalkers and other mediums get stunned to death and everything else gets near one shot, especially at close range.

I'm liking the counter sniper a lot too, though I've only used it against bots in this major order. I can see it performing well against bugs. Need to give the new plasma rifle another shot, I used it in some low level missions just to test it out and kind of hated how it felt. But I feel like it might have a plasma punisher situation where the projectile is a little smaller than what it looks like it should be. I feel like the two plasma guns should basically feel like they have the same projectile and just deliver it differently because the plasma punisher kind of rules when you get used to it.

I had almost the same thing happen earlier tonight when we were at 0 reinforcements before the final objective thanks to a gunship tower hiding behind a mesa from one of the sub objectives.

What's the most impactful of the level 4 upgrades besides XXL Eagle Bay?

Also, what's the deal with Striders since the last patch or two? They used to go down with a single Autocannon shot anywhere, but now it's pickier somehow? I've been playing with the AMR and sometimes they die in one shot still, sometimes they take like 3-4 and the bot still pops out unharmed. Are you supposed to shoot them in the pussy now?

Also also how do you deal with the huge walking factory thing? Can you deal meaningful damage with any of your weapons or do you just have to throw airstrikes at it til it dies?

Breaker incendiary is the meta gun against bugs, IMO, primarily because it turns shriekers into soup with almost 0 effort.

You can shoot the drop bay when it opens and also some points on the head with heavier med pen weapons like the AC, make sure you blow up the guns on the face first though since they basically kill you instantly

The chin guns have medium armour. Destroy them, and you can attack the factory hatch on the belly, which has medium armour whether open or closed (though it takes bonus damage when it's open) and is the most fragile part of the Strider. The sensor strip across the face is also a medium-armoured weak point if you want to take potshots from a distance with your AMR or autocannon to wear the big beastie down. For anti-tank weapons, the shoulders and hips have the lowest health pools if you want to kill the Strider fast, and don't forget that you can also destroy the dorsal turret.

As for stratagems, you can use your standard anti-tank options, but Eagle Airstrikes are unusually effective against Factory Striders because they're so incredibly large and slow that you can hit with most or even all of the bombs in a single attack run.

Their pilots had their explosive resist increased. AC now takes 2 shots from the (low)front instead of 1, scorcher takes 3 instead of 2, etc.
Unsure of what is the ideal way to drop them with AMR, it may vary based on angle.

Probably packing methodology, but be aware it only works on non-backpack weapons if you called them in using your own strat. It won't work on ones you find lying around the mission.

The arc and flamethrower upgrades are both very powerful if you ever use those weapons. The barrage upgrade is a lot better than it sounds since it makes them more consistently destroy stuff in their area while not teamkilling.

AMR destroys their legs in one shot, including the hip joints on the side of the base. AC and other small radius explosive weapons take an extra shot or two to kill them now. Ones with bigger AOEs like the grenade pistol and plasma punisher sometimes still 1 shot them ime.

All the old 1-shots still apply (bottom and sides of the leg connector), but the AMR is now a 1-shot to the leg also since the damage has been upped. Occasionally you'll get a bad angle shot and it won't pop the leg immediately but it's the exception.

if a corpse with physics dies within [x] meters of an objective the thing should just instantly despawn or melt into the ground or something, yeah.

it's 2 strat slots for the effectiveness of an autocannon basically. You have to really make use of the extra supplies like grenades, stims, and primary ammo to make it worth it and even then you'd probably be better off with another pick.

If it came with its own backpack a la the AC it'd be a good aoe version.

Tbh I have come around to thinking the Stalwart and Grenade Launcher should come with a 'light support pack' that carries two supply boxes; and the MG and regular supply pack should be combined into a single call in.

It's just way too hard to justify taking an anti infantry weapon AND a supply pack unless your team absolutely has AT handled; and this would free up a slot to take an EATs or something.

Shriekers are too uncommon and the breaker does well enough against them.

IIRC it had a bigger spread which was my main knock against it. The incendiary doing more total damage due to fire didn't matter since my preference for the breaker is from one (via decap) or two-shotting warriors and hunters for space. The incendiary just didn't kill in as few shots and wouldn't buy me space since the fire didn't stun.
